Amazing video I do indeed need help though, very confused at the moment. My goal is to achieve a stereo mix using ECAMM LIVE. I understand that in Ecamm live in order to get stereo I have to check mark input 1 and 2 in audio preferences. BUT will the rodecaster be recognized as input 1 and 2 in Ecamm by just simply plugging up the rode caster to my laptop into USB 1 ? if I run 4 things into the rode caster pro will Ecamm automatically pick it up stereo because of the simple fact the rode caster usb 1 input feature? please help thank you :)

This was a'n excellent idea to separate the "basic settings" for the RCP2 from the "back channel settings" (see previous videos) ! Back channel is not for everyone and it deserve a separate full video. By the way...I finally just finished to configure all my Rodecaster Pro II settings (I'm teaching online), by following Alec advices in this video and .. It work perfectly OK ! I have now > 2 mic channels, The Ecamm channel on USB 1 "Main" (+mix-minus), the zoom channel on USB 1 "Chat" (+mix-minus), the Music channel (from iTune) on the USB 2 "Secondary", and another music channel from my special App that I have made developed and that I demonstrate on the 2 remaining mic entry (via headphone output from the Mac Studio, with jack 3,5 to double jack 6,31 plugged on RCP (routed by loopdeck). All is working perfectly OK thank you Alec ! Just my students are telling me my mic volume is much to low (i'm using an SM7B at 67 DB Gain) and slider at unity. Anyone know how to arrange this ?

Hi Alec! Thanks for the great tutorial. Would it be possible to make this setup even simpler by running Zoom through the RCP2 without Ecamm? Seems it should be possible. I just can’t get the Audio Output delay in the RCP2 to work… Any ideas?
@TakeOneTech
@TakeOneTech Жыл бұрын
Hi Andy, this video was aimed at folks using Ecamm and Zoom together specifically, but indeed Ecamm is not an essential part if you are just using Zoom.... then you would just have Zoom on a channel with mix minus on and you'll be good to go. In terms of the output delay, I'll just explain where to find this in case you are unsure... Tap setting in the top right corner of the RCP2 screen... then 'Outputs' then 'Processing' then 'Output delay' at the top of the screen... Now that you are on the Output delay screen, not that there is an on/off button for the feature that is around the centre of the screen. If it is off, you will see "OFF" in the black box beneath where it says 'APHEX" and if it is on, it will display the current delay in milliseconds. With it on, you can tap on the 'Delay' dial on the right side of the screen and then turn the knob just next to the screen to increase and decrease the delay. (Also use the +/-100 buttons at the bottom of the screen) Sorry if all that was obvious, just wanted to make sure you knew the steps... Is it that you are doing all of the above, but that it does not seem to have any effect on the output?
@andyscisco3744
@andyscisco3744 Жыл бұрын
@@TakeOneTech Thank you for the detailed reply! Since my comment Røde have explained to me that the Output Delay in the RCP2 only affects the Monitor Outputs (not the USB outputs). As far as I can see this means anyone trying to use the RCP2 for Zoom (using an external camera) will have to use some kind of additional software (Ecamm or similar) to sync the audio and video signals. I personally don’t need all the features of Ecamm so it feels like overkill. Might there be other ways around this? Thanks for all the help!

So I should be getting my new board next week. I’m used to the original RCP assigning the inputs for me so I need to think carefully about this. I use SY and use PC sounds to my listeners and also take phone calls via an iPhone. Any suggestions for easier setup? Do you offer a consult session? LOL

Is SY, Stream Yard? ie instead of Ecamm Live? If so, just use a separate channel for that. You can link the phone over bluetooth and that also has mix-minus on it, so I'd recommend that for your call in segments. I do offer consultations, you can book here: www.takeonetech.io/consultation Also feel free to join the Take One Tech community in Discord and ask questions in the dedicated Rodecaster Pro 2 section! What a great video Alec. I am about to watch it for a second time before I dare make any adjustments to my RCP2. I guess saving my current seetings as a new show is wise. Then experiment/impleent your concepts and save it as another show. What is really exciting is, I have a PC and use vMix not eCamm, should prove interesting. Sort of a mixer version of transcription of music ! Any obvious hints for accomplishing this with vMix and not eCamm? Thank you.

Hi, first of all, thank you for the great videos. I have the same setting set as here in the video. Still, I can't get a problem solved that I've been stuck on for weeks now. When I play a sound from Ecamm, it does not play in zoom. At best, you hear a small fragment of the sound. In Rodecaster Pro II I see in the main track that the sound from Ecamm arrives in Rodecaster Pro II. However, it just doesn't play cleanly in the zoom. Also, when I put a sound on the SmartPads of the Rodecaster Pro II, I have the same problem here. It's exasperating because I've really spent countless hours (7 hours today alone) trying and adjusting everything possible. The result is always the same. Do you have any idea what else I can test here? Even if I use instead of the Rodecaster Pro II with for example Blackhole to get the audio in Zoom, I have exactly the same problem. Zoom doesn't play the sounds from Rodecaster or Ecamm.
@TakeOneTech

This is likely the noise cancellation in Zoom.... it thinks that the music is background noise to be removed! I created a free guide that explains how to fix this: www.takeonetech.io/zoom-settings Actually the guide talks about using the Ecamm Live Virtual mic, but even if you are using the Rodecaster, the audio settings still apply (except your mic and Speaker in Zoom would be set to Rodecaster of course!)

Thanks for producing such helpful content. I’ve been using a Focusrite 8i6 and ATEM mini pro for Zoom. I don’t use headphones for zoom calls. The audio out of the Focusrite is into a pair of powered speakers, and there’s no problem with feedback. I’ve just bought the RC2 pro to start experimenting with streaming and podcasts. I’d like to connect the RC2 to the monitors but they are muted when the mic slider is lifted! This means I have to wear headphones for zoom calls or remember to mute the mic when I’m not speaking. Why doesn’t the RC2 behave in the same way as my original set up? Thanks for any help!

The concern I have is 80 percent of the content creators, streamers, zoomers are going to have a hard time with these settings, remembering all the details, and adjusting for various scenarios. Yes you simplified it for us who do audio for a living, but it’s not that simple for the other 80 percent. Or am I underestimating that they will be able to master these setting and the various applications the mixer can serve?
@TakeOneTech

It certainly is a balancing act that I struggle with when creating these videos... i.e. deciding on the level at which I should be describing them - wanting to give full information for different use cases, but not wanting to cause the "o" word. (ahem, 'overwhelm'... sorry Doc!😂) The 'simplified' part of this video was really just first minute where I say 'If you take nothing else away from this video, remember this: each application with 2 way audio (Ecamm & Zoom) need to be mix minus and each application with 2 way audio needs to have a dedicated channel." For the vast majority of people using Ecamm Live with Zoom, those simple instructions will serve them well. If people are starting to think about creating separate back channels and all of that kind of thing that I talked about towards the end of the video, however, well then I've got to assume that they are a little more towards the pro end of the spectrum and so they will simply need to learn the tool at the appropriate level to achieve the result. :-)

@parva777
@parva777 2 жыл бұрын
Well... it is confusing for many of us at the beginning. Just look at all the Alec videos on the RCP2 (maybe 1 or 2 time) and it will clear out ! I learned this from Alec, here are the basics (correct me if I'm wrong) > Mix-minus prevent "Slap Back" (sort of echo but not really) for you guests on Zoom or on your recording on Ecamm . Let say if you use Zoom you want to be able to ear your guests into you headphone but the sound of those guests you are listening to should not go back to them into you mix thus making a "Slap Back" (earring themself back again). This is possible if you have "Minus" them from the channel (from the mix) you use to broadcast toward them. Or let say if you use Ecamm "sound effects" you want to ear the sound effects or movie sound from Ecamm into your headphone but it should not "go back" to Ecamm again making a "double sound". RCP is a 2 ways street, coming and going. Mix-Minus make the source of you choice you want to monitor but not "to Go Back" into the final mix, so it is called Mix-Minus ! You "Mix" = mic voice + music etc... "Minus" the source you "desire to monitor" (guest on zoom or Ecamm sounds) be avalaible to you for listening but "not to go back into the final "mix" you are sending, thus preventing a "Slap Back". Just Look again Alec video it is very clearly explained. It take time to understand, if you are confused dont worry, it is normal, we all have being confused at the beginning because the concept "look" complex (in fact it is not), but it finally get clear after a while, and it is paramount, we need Mix-Minus ! In need contact Alec, he have "private consultation" avalaible on his website www.takeonetech.io/consultation . Well.... maybe now I made you even more confused... Then just listen again to Alec he is cristal clear, much more than me !

This particular video was about using Ecamm Live and Zoom with RCP2... Ecamm Live is indeed a Mac app that I use to make my videos but also can be used to bring live video production quality into your Zoom calls on a Mac. However the principals discussed can equally applied to the OBS software on the PC which is similar to Ecamm live... My videos in general do tend to be rather Mac-centric, though. 🙏😊

Technically you can of course use midi with rodecaster to control Ecamm, a primary advantage of stream deck is simply ease of setup. Then there is the fact that it can do so much more and so you have all of that additional functionality on a single device. Also potentially more buttons/actions available without switching RCP smart pad pages etc…. If the smart pad/midi option is working for you though, then certainly no need to change just because others do it differently! 🙏😊
