I think if the Doom Wings on Sonic were changed to look more like normal wings that were made using Sonic Wind so they had more of a transparent blue glow and produced a wind trail that matched, it would've looked WAAAYY better for Sonic and fit for him. Better yet, it'd be great to give him Sonic Wind to use instead of Doom Spear with the mod. Modders if you see this, I give full permission to make this a reality. I'd love to see it.

So those are two more instances of him using Chaos Control without an emerald.

At first I wondered why Chaos Control was allowed at all, since it's supposed to be a Sonic roleplay challenge, but then at four minutes in it came back to my mind that Sonic CAN Chaos Control, because he did it in SA2, it's just that he chooses not to do it, only having done that the one time because it was his only option so that he could avoid death.

An argument could be made that Sonic’s ability “Sonic Wind” allows the use of Chaos Spear for this challenge since it’s basically the same attack but I get why it’d be banned since I don’t think Sonic has ever used it outside of SA2’s 2P mode. Also that Doom Blast skip was sick!

u can mess with goofy loop physics in white space to get to radical highway without even grabbing doom wings (you have to kill meph first otherwise the entry trigger doesnt work). basically if you go to the loop connecting KV and SH on the SH side, walk up the loop above the dashpads, fall onto the dashpads, then just as you hit them pause and teleport to Ring Collector LV1, you will get absolutely flung in the air and can fall into the RH entry. the RH levels have to be beaten wingless but devil doom still gives u wings so u can beat the game as normal. you can also use this same bug to get to metal overlord without using doom blast. i really liked the video! it was very funny seeing sonic slowly chip away at the boss health bars, and the riders board replacing doom surf is genius.

this reminds me of a video i saw where someone was trying to beat the game without ever BOOSTING. one problem he had was a segment where a big train is chasing you, and you are expected to Boost to stay ahead of it, but he got through that by using Chaos Control to stop the train! another problem is that gliding using the Doom WIngs drains Boost energy, which is technically boosting, so he took the lowest path, and he did manage to finish the level without gliding.

Ngl, this is the second boost Sonic game I ever played, (First being Colors Ultimate) and while I enjoyed playing as modern Sonic, there were moments where I wish he had a double jump for fast elevated platforming. Playing through Rooftop Run and Planet Wisp would've been great with this addition. When I started playing as Shadow, it's like my prayers have been answered and I was enjoying my time throughout the entire campaign from beginning to end due to how Shadow controlled.

Regarding why it probably doesn’t tally rings towards the total score on bosses: That probably has something to do with the Hard versions of specific bosses as Hard Mephiles and Biolizard don’t give you any rings to save yourself from damage. It’s likely their way of compensating for that as opposed to keeping it normal.

Also this is just a suggestion, but I think the reason the Doom wings looks wrong on Sonic is because of the darker color. No offense to the Mod creator it still looks good, but imagine making the black colors, Gold and leaving the blue accents. Think it could look better with Sonic, since the Gold would fit more as a Super formish not really. But it would be the color I would recommend

I think Ik a good model swap for chaos/doom spear could be the air slashes for cross slash from frontiers and if they can’t then a streak of blue light kinda like boost color for sonic wind since that’s Sonic’s equivalent in sa2 for chaos spear and for doom blast sonic could use phantom rush

i didnt 'disallow' anything, i kept the timer running during chaos control to add to the challenge and modded the homing attack over chaos snap to be more faithful to how he plays in frontiers. some parts are impossible without chaos spear, which is why its only saved for when necessary this has also been addressed in a bunch of other comments lol

It’s almost as if Ian Flynn has been writing badass Sonic dialogue for years but it’s only fair to bring up Archie Sonic to tear down Modern Sonic games and writers obviously! It’s also as if SEGA also have to sign off on every single thing put into the games. The Ian Flynn criticism is valid to a certain extent but this was actually a laughable take. there are mods for it already but theyre not as effective as you think. doom wing is a separate model that attaches to shadow so having him modded to go super doesnt really work how you think lol

Rings actually have no effect on getting an S Rank, your rank is tied to time, not score

@Snackpigeon If you get anything below an S Rank, the game will tell you how far off you are from the S rank, and it shows time, not score (I just ran Kingdom Valley just to confirm this, got an A rank and it told me I was 34 seconds off from getting the S rank) So yes, rank is determined by time, not score. Score is still a thing obviously but it doesn't effect rank
