Perfection! I've been watching professional painters wasting time with spreading on wood filler, then sanding their lives to infinity. I refuse to do all that sanding. I'm ok with this process and will be trying it soon! Thank you for confirming what I knew was possible with the proper products! Thank you and thank you Rustoleum!

Great job. I had heard before to always clean then sand to prevent the grime or residue on the piece down into the grain. Love your videos.👏🙂

Love your videos, they are always so helpful & enjoyable to watch! Would the Rustoleom filler & sander primer work to fill in the top of a side table that’s very grainy? I started painting the top & noticed all these little fine lines popping through the paint.
@BorninaBarnBoutique10 ай бұрын
Hi and thank you! So I would tell you that it’s a light grain filler. This can be layered and sanded in between coats to build up the coverage - but if you’re working with a heavy grain - you may need a gain filler like aqua lock first.
@BorninaBarnBoutique10 ай бұрын
You could try a test area of what your working with and do several layers to see if that works for you
@Tracy-s2e10 ай бұрын
Thanks for getting back to me! If that doesn’t work, is there another product you would recommend to fill in the grainy wood?
@BorninaBarnBoutique10 ай бұрын
@@Tracy-s2eyou bet - yes I mentioned Aqua Lock if the primer doesn’t give you enough coverage you can use that - it will definitely work 😀

Thank you for this video! Will Rust-Oleum primer also work on raw wood? I'm currently doing an engineering project and my group's prototype will have us cutting a plywood sheet from home Depot. I was wondering the primer can still work on that is still raw
@BorninaBarnBoutique Жыл бұрын
You are so welcome! I have used it on raw wood - I do all the time - after spraying - let dry and sand with a dime sandpaper/sanding sponge and it will be Uber smooth

Hi I’m not sure if you remember me from a few months ago, but I was making over a free desk I received for my daughter since we are homeschooling. Anyhoo it took a long time to start my project, but I finally started and got the products I need. I had a quick question, in the beginning before you cleaned and primed, you did a scuff sand. What grit did you use to do a scuff sand all over? Also when you scuff sanded after you primed you said you used a super fine grit, What #grit would you say they are? I have sanding sponges but they have #grit on them
@BorninaBarnBoutique3 жыл бұрын
I do! For scuff sanding 320 grit is good - for in between coats - I use a fine sanding pad (800 grit)

Will this be a good product for pieces that I’m painting black or any other unforgiving color? We all know that black is notorious for highlighting imperfections.
@BorninaBarnBoutique2 жыл бұрын
It will help! Your right any imperfections do stand out with blacks, navy’s, etc. I would suggest trying fill some of the bigger imperfections and then after sanding smooth priming - the combo works Great at helping hide them.

What other types of paint (latex, etc) can I use with the rustoleum primer? I am going to paint a dresser white and want it to be durable. And what is your suggestion for the best type of paint to use to make sure of that?
@BorninaBarnBoutique3 жыл бұрын
I don’t suggest latex paint for furniture. It does not adhere well and will peel down the road. I would use furniture paint. General Finishes, Fusion, country chic, all great paints. I have many paint review videos on here and those are my top choices!
@edythesandefur12983 жыл бұрын
im a newbie to this. does it matter if you clean or sand first?
@BorninaBarnBoutique3 жыл бұрын
It doesn’t really, sometimes I clean first, sometimes I scuff sand, it makes it a little easier to clean after scuff sanding because you want your piece wiped free of any dust.
@edythesandefur12983 жыл бұрын
@@BorninaBarnBoutique someone told me if i sanded first it would sand the dirty stuff into the piece. so i was confused

Do you dilute the C.C. paint in your sprayer? If so, what ratio do you use?
@BorninaBarnBoutique3 жыл бұрын
Yes you have to dilute most every paint when spraying, I have been doing this so long I don’t measure anymore 😀. Each brand and color too is different. Sometimes it’s 10%, sometimes it’s 20%. I would suggest using a viscosity cup (typically provided with your sprayer) the sweet spot for running through is about 35-40 seconds.
@kimberleysopha54463 жыл бұрын
@@BorninaBarnBoutique thank you so much ... can you tell I'm new to spray paintingt? LOL
@BorninaBarnBoutique3 жыл бұрын
@@kimberleysopha5446 I can’t tell you exactly what percentage to thin as I don’t measure anymore - I just eyeball it - so I would recommend using a viscosity cup and timing the run through. Thin a little run it through - time it and make adjustments as necessary. It’s a little tedious until you get it down. I offer one on one lessons on spraying all time - so maybe you would Benefit from that - feel free to visit my website shop for more info on them - www.borninabarnboutique.net

Does this primer stop bleed through on cherry/ mahogany?
@BorninaBarnBoutique2 жыл бұрын
So I wouldn't rely on this one to stop bleed through especially those 2 wood species - I would recommend shellac on those for sure - you can get shellac in a spray can as well

Petroleum jelly on the hinges will protect it from the spray paint
@BorninaBarnBoutique3 жыл бұрын
Yes I have used that trick, but I want to spray the hinges for a very monochromatic look and get rid of the ugly gold hinge. Sometimes I take them off and paint a different metal color or just clean them up. Just depends on the project and what I’m feeling! 😀
