What is the main difference between using Standard Static and Riks ?

Riks uses a load-magnitude as an additional unknown to enable an an arc-length type of analysis. In practical terms, this allows the analysis to be performed even if the structure is not stable. Very useful tool in nonlinear and buckling analysis, as is shown in this video. If you were using static general, the analysis would abort just prior to buckling.
