Although I class myself as a lower end intermediate player, since discovering this fantastic website of Brian Kelly's several weeks ago, I have decided to go "back to basics". I intend to complete every lesson in this series, and hopefully learn how to play the instrument "properly" ... thanks for your efforts Brian, brilliant tutorials!!

Phil James I consider Brian’s lessons to be my most influential learning tools. I never thought I’d understand music theory as easily as Brian teaches it. I hope people see the value in Brian’s content and that his KZbin channel grows and trends!

@@iamandes4455 he teaches it so simply. I used to be intimidated by theory, but it's actually really easy.

StarSMASH right on. I still find some theory difficult but these lessons Brian has definitely made it possible for me to get it. I wish Brian gets in to playing the chord of the moment type of playing. Say playing a blues and using the 1 and 4 chord scales. Or playing both major/minor in a blues. Amazing lessons. Brians lessons are definitely where it all started clicking for me 😊👍

Who needs theory was my rationale, but I found out that theory is really important when jamming with people who already understood theory. I have found your videos to be the easiest to follow on KZbin. I was a believer of instructional music theory KZbin videos, after finally understanding the circle of fifths after watching your video once; it's made songwriting fun again. Thanks Dude 👍

This is a great lesson on SUS chords. I like what you said about "removing the third note in the chord and add either the 2nd or 4th note"". I knew how to play some SUS chords but I always wondered what was the theory behind creating them. I am trying to learn ways to embellish chords and SUS chords is a big part of that. Thank you. great lesson . I have just discovered your site in the last few days i am in England(UK). Started playing the guitar again after 20 years.its like starting again as so much has changed with techniques etc. The way you show the theory first, then show the lesson then explain how to use it is terrific. I've learned in a few days what i didn't in 20 years. Thank you so much Brian.

There also have add#4(no3) chord (mathematically would be sus#4) that also can do function like sus chord Example Chord Progression is A Asus4 A | D Dadd#4(no3) D Dadd#4(no3) have note is D G# A In A Major sometime you may want to use Dadd#4(no3) chord in 4th chord of key A Major instead Dsus4 because Dsus4 have note G and G not in the key (you can use it if sound good) or another choice is using Dsus2 sus#4 would look easier to call but official name is add#4(no3)

Thanks, I'm trying to use 5th fret bar chords for an A to A sus 4 change in the verse of Bad Co.'s Shooting Star. It might be played in open position, but the chords around it sound like bar chords. Not getting it to sound fat enough with F shape pinky toggle, so trying to switch into it from the same bar as the 6 string A. Or from a 5 string F shape. It's a tough transition, though. Trying to get it to sound like the record.

So the Asus2 chord that you used on the bottom 3 strings is the same as a F#sus4 chord using the D-shape variation?

Hi Brian. I was checking your Sus video. Now the sus is no more intimidating ! I'm playing around with a chord progression cmajor, cmajor7, and C13sus2. I cant get my fingering correct on the C13sus2. I'm trying to play this whole progression where my open major chords are played ( 1,2,3 fret area). Can you send me some ideas ?
@ganeshgurung66496 жыл бұрын
If you barr that Asus4 chord then it becomes Dsus2 chord (from A shape) and barring Asus2 becomes Esus4 ( lowering Dsus4 shape) right? I came from different video so got bit confused ..any way Its good to know both ideas...thank you
