Using the back of a cutting die as a hot foil stamp with the GoPress and Foil

In this video I demonstrate using a Tonic strip cutting die as a hot foil stamp. You need a thin metal shim (not the metal conversion plate) to use this technique. Mine is from Crafts Too and is 0.3mm thick. Scrappy Cat Crafts also sell similar metal shims or just search ebay for 0.3mm metal shim.

WOW...That is brilliant might not work on every single one but it’s going to work beautifully on a whole bunch of my dies I can’t wait to start trying them I would have to modestly say that you just doubled my dies for my go press and file machine and you know where else that got me thinking about some metal stencils that I have that are just beautiful and metal one pretty flat. Just been having a go wow so impressed have to play around with a shim on some dies but the results are great thank you for your inspiration xx I would say to anyone is have a go some dies work better than others xx plus I used my sizxix big shot no plates just straight through with go press it worked 😀

In this video I was using a Todo machine, but it has since been replaced with a Big Shot Plus.

There was something else I wanted to say which is that I use my metal shed am currently differently than you do a whole different order of putting down the foil, the dies, the paper the foil & the shims, CS and metal...?

My metal shim is very thin 0.3mm and the method I use does not leave any marks on it from the die, while also protecting the non-slip surface of the GoPress. From the bottom up I have card shim, metal shim, card to foiled, foil (shiny side up), die with cutting edge up, waste card to protect the GoPress lid (optional). But if you have another method that is working for you that's great :)

Why aren't you using the Todo to foil - I thought that it was capable of doing it ?

I prefer to keep my Todo cold for die cutting - and the GoPress has a larger foiling area.

Why don’t u use the foil in part of ur todo machine

I don't foil with my Todo any more because then I have to wait for it to cool down before I can use it to die cut. I didn't have another die cutting machine at the time.
