Find it very hard to believe that you only have 10k followers, u should be way up over 100k. Judging on some of the vids I’ve saw from people within this number, I’ve learnt virtually nothing from them apart from how much gear they spend their utube loot on and how nice their office is. Good luck to you, your content is far better and so is your work 😊

Thank you for your kind words Mark, it is very much appreciated. The first 1000 subs are the hard part, as you do not get any help from KZbin, you have to share your own work and hope people subscribe. Once you get to 1000, KZbin will start to share your videos, I reached 1000 in July 23, and I was so happy that people were supporting me, since then we have reached 10k in 6 months, which is tremendous, I would like to increase my following so hopefully I can make a small living from my hobby, but for now it is mostly just for fun 😀

To come across your channel is a blessing as i am just retired and i'm starting to get into editing and i am learning from all types of places but i must say your eye is very good so keep up the great content and i'm sure plenty of people will get great benefit from what you do. Hey Mick, thank you for your comment and kind words, they are very much appreciated, and I am also very happy to hear that I can be of assistance with understanding post-processing. If you go back to some of my earlier videos, you will find some basic from-the-start tutorials, such as how to import and export from Lightroom, these may be useful. In the meantime, if you have any comments or questions feel free to reach out through my website jrmathlin.uk/ here you will find a contact page 😀

@@jamiermathlinThank you. You are aware of that old saw I presume of, "Be careful what you ask for, because you may get it!" Quick question regarding this exercise. We all know that for the time being generative AI is using less than high resolution and, of course, there are various workarounds like using little squares of 1020 by 1020 pixels, which is nothing BUT onerous. With this image, do you feel that the generative AI you used to remove quite large elements compromised the quality of those sections? And, if we zoomed in it would be noticeable? It looks absolutely wonderful on the screen of a pad or a computer but, we both know that, "That don't make no never mind." the Amish of Pennsylvania in the USA would say! AND, intimately, inseparably related, how would such comprises affect print quality? And you producing a perfect print? Or, is it, again, as the Amish would entone - is the image, "Just for pretty."? Lol

I enjoy watching your videos. As you say, the post processing is often more enjoyable than the photo session itself, and you enjoy tools that doesn't do everything for you. What I find extremely interesting, is the fact that you in reality is using surprisingly few tools and options. You use 90% of the time radial gradients, and prove that everything doesn't have to be so difficult. In fact, it's easy - when it comes to the editing itself. The difficult thing is all the details. How a shadow will fall from a light source, what looks pleasant to the eye, what do you try to tell, and so on. The funny thing is that I have been working every now and then a few years to find a way to do this kind of editing more easy (technically), with full control and a way it's fun to work. And you have showed me just that. Showed me things I have known a long time, but never coupled together with my workflow. Like masking manually inside radial gradients. Thanks a lot for your hard and good work, and keep on publishing these videos. I'm looking forward to more of them :) Regards Kent

Hi Robbie, very sorry to hear that you are having a problem with the Beta edition of Photoshop, to roll back to your previous version, go into your CC app, in the APP tab on the left, find the Photoshop Beta icon on the right under installed apps, to the right of the Photoshop Beta icon you will find 3 dots, click these and then near to the bottom of the menu that opens you will find other versions. I hope this helps...

Hi Jamie, thanks for another awesome image. I hope it’s ok to gratefully give you a hint in return, at 19:54, you simply can click on „Flatten image“ without selecting anything and you get a plain perfect „Background“ (that special type of layer). Just right click on the bottom layer, then select „Flatten Image“.

I kind of torn with the remove tool and the generative FIll function to omit some things. So, for me I used the fill function whenever the image that I want to get rid off is quite big and in addition it will give you a selection of replacements that will make you consider to even add those images. On the other hand, the remove tool works fine if its a smaller and compact or solid objects.
@jamiermathlin Жыл бұрын
I agree, I use the removal tool for all the small removals and line alignments, whereas the generative fill function is better at more complex and larger removals, but remember that currently the generative fill only uses 1024x1024 pixel resolution, so try not to fill very large areas in one go as it will look blurry 🙂
@randym7692 Жыл бұрын
Well done as usual sir. I use both the removal tool and the new generative fill now. I also still use the spot healing brush and clone stamp tool as well. All have their uses. The generative fill I use mainly when there something I want to remove that is in front of something else, I find this tool to be both very very good and also a little bit spooky in how it removes the object I want removed and how well it fills in the area it did the removal to match the surroundings. I'm also very glad you addressed the noise issue in this tutorial. I know you use a Sony A7 R V camera and I do as well. I was wondering if it was just me getting noise in my files at 50 ISO using Sony's best G Master pro series lenses. Glad to see it's not just me. I love the new denoise feature in Lightroom.
@jamiermathlin Жыл бұрын
Hey Randy, thank you for the comment, I agree with everything you say, spooky is the truth :-) I have the A7R4 same sensor as the 5, 61MP still feels insane, but we expect a lot from our sensors now, we push the shadows by 4 or 5 stops and still, the noise is minimal. we are truly blessed with the technology we have access too !!
@randym7692 Жыл бұрын
@@jamiermathlin Ah, could have sworn I saw one of your videos saying you use the A7R V. Love your work and would love to go shooting with you sometime. If you're ever in the U.S. or if I make it across the pond at some point. Keep up the fantastic work.

Jamie, ps and lightroom guru. Your basic raw image was pretty ordinary tbh, but your post prod is excellent. Its your fantasy art tho and not actually real as you will never see this in reality. What is real and what is fake is becoming blurred just like the news is. AI although amazingly helpful is taking over all aspects of talent, diligence and years of experience. Thx for the vid btw, enjoyed it

I cannot disagree with you, Phil. I find that I get enjoyment from taking the ordinary and turning it into a real image with some fantasy 🙂 my wife calls it the 'Harry Potter' effect !

Jamie, great job, as always. You showed both the Photoshop Remove tool and the new Generative AI feature to also do removals. Can both tools be used interchangeably or do we need to try each tool for any given removal to see which does a better job? Thanks!
@jamiermathlin Жыл бұрын
Good question, I am still learning which tool works best with different removals, so far it seems to me that the removal tool is great for smaller items where the background is simple, the generative fill tool on the other hand suits larger removals or objects that have a more complicated background, the only issue is that generative fill is currently limited to 1024 pixel, so it is best not to try to remove to large a section in one go, break it down into a number of sections if you can.

@jamiermathlin Жыл бұрын
Hi Edward, are you in Photoshop or are you using the remove tool in Lightroom, if so in Lightroom it is called the heal tool and you need to select never down in the very bottom right corner when the tool is selected. If you are in Photoshop then you need to make sure that you are on the background layer (Layer 1). let me know if this sorted the issue 🙂

I can appreitate your Serger Remelli workflow you use, and using the new generative fill which is pretty awesome, Your exposure of the image was spot on, but adding the white sun at the end ruins it for me. It tells me the exposure was not properly taken.. Perhaps use the same tones in the sunset to create the bright sun to draw the eye there. Other than that very nice job with the edit
