Using the new Cities Skylines Skyscrapers Content Creator Pack (CCP) to create a second skyline! | Verde Beach 109
Hello everyone and welcome back to Verde Beach! In this episode, we're taking a bit of a detour from neighborhood development to focus on something that should have happened years ago - old Verde Beach is getting it's own skyline! We'll use the new Skyscrapers CCP to create a secondary central business district or CBD to rival that of many small cities. Enjoy!

Hellooo Verde Beach! Today is an always sunny day in our majestic city! I’m Andrew Hamilton and your listening to The Daily Fire Starter! A controversial redevelopment project in old town verde has caused much controversy and has caused some marches in down town! But none the less, the building has began. Many people are calling this “The second skyline”. We are currently trying to get a comment from the current city planner for Verde Beach and many other cities in The state of Superior, but we may not get a comment. This has been the Daily Fire Starter, and I’m Andrew Hamilton. See you next time!

Hi FS, long time listener first time caller. Personally I love that the city is getting a fresh look. As somebody who moved here from Melbourne in Australia I think a lot of cities undervalue having a unique and attractive skyline like we do back home. Sure, people are complaining that progress is overtaking what they remember about the city but as they say: "Progress waits for no man."

I loved the idea of the Farmers Market in the city, and I think that would be something that residents and visitors alike would still want. It could be with a new asset added from the workshop. The Ferry Building in San Francisco is a destination like this, and in Los Angeles you have the original Farmers Market. In Barcelona you have La Boqueria. If you could revisit this in a new spot I would love it as it was a great destination and landmark of Verde Beach.

Hey Phil! I don't comment often, but I wanted to say I really appreciated the city tour in this episode. Frankly, it's what I do, and want to see, as a reflection of a session: how does this look from the perspective of someone who lives here? The flybys are cool and are a nice summary, but are ultimately not incredibly useful, how often do people see their city from a bird's eye view? It gave me the feeling of *being* in the the place, which I love! P.S. I've had an apartment picked out in fireside commons that I chose as my "house" in your build, and try and take in your episodes as a resident there with that perspective. Your worldbuilding makes it a joy to do! Thanks for the vids, and especially thank you for the wastewater episode in Clearwater! My brother works in that industry, and it gives me a lot of pride to see someone give that essential service the respect it deserves.

Phil, Ever since I was 15, I've struggled on and off with pretty severe panic disorder and hypochondriasis. In fact, I was institutionalized for two weeks for that and a myriad of other severe mental health issues just before my 16th birthday, in 2015. Since the beginning of the COVID pandemic, I've been struggling once again with panic attacks and excessive worry. I have been through half a dozen different medications that did not work. Common coping skills like writing, slow breathing, among others, haven't worked either. In April of this year, I discovered your channel between my hobby bouts of Planet Coaster, Animal Crossing, and digital drawing. I remember that I'd picked up a copy of Cities Skylines for my Switch, and was looking for a tutorial. About a month or so later, I had the most severe panic attack I've had to date. It seemed like nothing would work to stop the constant shaking, extreme dread, and the false feeling of being near death. However, one thing that I've found that does help is watching this channel. The Bob Ross-esque style of these videos helps being me back down from the what is arguably the worst part of my day. I always look forward to watching you tinker with all the tools and mods and watching these cities grow before my very eyes. So, thank you, Phil! For helping me find peace in a world of chaos. I wish there was more that I could say or do to express my full gratitude to you.

I live in Cape Town South Africa and having a second cbd is key cause most of the subs is quite far from downtown. So Bellville is being turned into the second cbd and it's a mid rise kinda style building and transit is very accessible like trains, taxis and busses we have long distance rides as well. It has basically all the government services we require like Labour offices, tax officers, home affairs like passports and id's and a few more. I think that it's a great a addition to Verde Beach because most neighborhoods aren't situated close to downtown

I have been enjoying the Verde Beach build since beginning. This installment is one of the best ever! There is just one thing that comes to mind. There are simply not enough hockey arenas, baseball diamonds, soccer/football fields and simple playing fields for the young citizens of this city. High schools usually have them. This would create inter-school rivalries etc. I believe Madison has them at their respective high schools, like Middleton HS or Madison East HS.

Verde Beach is a tropical city. People want those shadows! In the tropics, shade is king! The highest property values are for units that receive just a bit of morning sun, and nothing more. If you want to ensure a large concrete area stays mostly empty, keep it in the sun for most of the day. Want it to be used by the people? Give them shade.

Excellent work, Phil. Love love the new business district. I have a few suggestions, I just can't help myself lol: 1. A new dual-line metro would suit the new business district more than the OG one as the business district could use an express metro line from Mulligan International Airport through the Metro Plaza. The Train Stations CCP metro stations would be great, but the compactness of the P&P Metro Station (1x3) would make it easier to implement. You could also extend the new line to nearest Ferry Station to accommodate visitors from Palma Del Fuego. 2. Check out the Plastic Surgery Clinic from the Heart of Korea CCP, It's tall enough to fit & compact enough (1x2) to be squeezed in here & there. 3. The adjacent tram Blvd could use an upgrade to one of the new tram Blvds with trees to emphasize the importance of the new district. 4. The Modern City Center CCP buildings are tall iirc & might help with the tapering of the skyline. They could work to create an adjacent high-end shopping district, they're loud though. As for downtown VB, I think you should wait for the Financial Districts DLC next month before you overhaul it. ______ The One Montgomery Way looks like the 100 Wilshire Tower in Los Angeles, or for all the GTA players out there, Lombank West. ;) Love the math bit & the Justin Timberlake reaction to it lol.

one of the buildings is the Cepsa Tower from Madrid, Spain. it is the tallest building of the country and it is part of a series of 5 towers that are considered the main business district. the model is pretty good, and i’m really surprised to see it in the game!

Marble Building from South Africa: Marble Towers is a skyscraper in the Central Business District of Johannesburg, South Africa. It was built in 1973 and is 32 storeys tall. The building has an eight-storey parking garage attached to it. It has the biggest electronic sign in the Southern Hemisphere, measuring 44 by 32 by 12 m (144 by 105 by 39 ft). It is made out of a mixture of concrete and marble. Its main use is for commercial offices.

I'm loving the new-old downtown, it looks so realistic. Now I can't wait for the improvements to the main downtown area! As for the building from Poland, I'm actually surprised they added one from here. And I'm not impressed by the choice, it's a Marriott Hotel building (Centrum LIM is the name) from Warsaw and it's quite a meh building from the late eighties that could as well be placed in any American city. I wish they'd add some better tower instead, like Q22, Warsaw Spire or even Rondo1. However, I recently found out about an interesting trivia about the Marriott/LIM building. Apparently it does not own the land which it's placed on so it's not permanently attached to it with regular foundations but instead is built on pillars for some type of a bypass of local regulations.

You commented on the shadows cast by the tall buildings - but their effect on airflow is also important, the spaces between them often becoming wind tunnels, as the wind is channeled between them.

Just realised that the skyscrapers don't provide living space, so you could end up creating a large downtown area with no residences if you go overboard.

I liked this build, and is a good use of the new CCP. I originally thought all the skyscrapers were too close together, but the distance between them felt natural and realistic when you did the city tour, reminding me of CBDs I’ve visited in the world. Although maybe one of the three towers closest to downtown could be moved to the other side of 4th Street to improve separation. Also, I would add just one taller skyscraper to anchor the area. I would also reroute the tram down the new pedestrian roads, given it runs so close and would make use of the new tram roads in the update.

"These buildings are probably too close together, and I don't see that as plausible siting location", well my friend, book yourself a ticket to London and witness 8 Bishopsgate and 22 Bishopsgate, unreasonable but sadly realistic. Also love that Tower 42 is getting some love in cities skylines, an iconic London Tower with a unique shape based on the original owner when viewed from above, and now the top part has an LED display showing seasonal motifs across the year, most recently a poppy for Remembrance Sunday

I think there's an opportunity to add a third skyline significantly further from downtown Verde Beach. There are numerous examples of a second CBD in cities worldwide - for example Parramatta in Sydney, Australia. The content creator pack has so many good-looking skyscraper assets and I feel it would be a waste not to use them somewhere! As an added benefit - there would be no height restriction

Since these are tourist buildings, maybe VB needs a reassessment of specifically tourist routes, like from the ports, and actual tours. A walking tour of the new second skyline would probably draw a lot of people!
