Very informative Tony. Your price comparison had me laughing when I saw the bottle of B&B Farms Maple Syrup on the table, I thought now how is Tony going to work this 100% pure Indiana maple syrup into a video about aquatic herbicides? Epic, I'm still laughing!

Thanks for the video! You had mentioned around the 6:00 mark this Sonar stuff doesn't affect algae, right? Dang it! That's just about all I have! What do you recommend for killing that off?
@bbfarmsmaple80112 ай бұрын
Yep, sonar won't touch filamentous algae! We use a copper based compound, Cutrine Plus, for algae. We actually have a video about it, right here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJetl4WCfKeMqsksi=_dEsfklM2Hlxk7zh Thanks for the comment, good luck with your pond!

Thank you Tony for the education. I have a spring fed pond in TN that has Water Shield (Brasenia schreberi). I saw where you mentioned Flumigard for Water Shield. Are you saying I can use Fluridone instead of Flumigard? Thank you for your help.
@bbfarmsmaple80114 ай бұрын
Either one will work, the difference comes down to a couple important points. Fluridone is non-selective, meaning it will kill almost everything in the pond, NOT just the watershield. With Fluridone you treat the entire pond at once, and everything (almost) dies. And it's super expensive. Flumigard allows for a selective kill, since it is sprayed directly on the watershield itself..... you're treating the plant, not the water. And it's much cheaper than Fluridone. I just treated a pond for watershield last week, and I sprayed Flumigard with a surfactant. One week later and the watershield is dead/dying. If you use the Flumigard, be sure to treat the pond in sections, waiting a couple weeks in between. Good luck, and thanks for the comment!

@@bbfarmsmaple8011 Thank you for your reply ... not a big pond, less then a 1/2 acre. So using Floridone won't be too expensive.

American pondweed....whats the fastest way to kill all of it, without damaging the fish ? I need to ensure the roots are also destroyed.
@bbfarmsmaple80112 ай бұрын
To get rid of all of the pondweed quickly, without harming your fish, is a tall order. And risky. Best to spot treat sections at a time, waiting 7-10 days in between treatments, OR stick with the Fluridone.

If I have a qeeping willow very close to my pond, on the edge of my pond and I follow the instructions on the bottle will it kill my weepibg willow? I do not want to kill the weeping willow
@bbfarmsmaple8011Ай бұрын
It very well might wipe out your willow! Willows typically have roots out in the pond, so I would be very leery of using Sonar!!!

Our pond is about three acres and surrounded by cypress trees . Do you think the sonar would hurt the trees ?
@bbfarmsmaple80113 ай бұрын
Hmmm. I honestly don't know, but my experience with Sonar has been one in which the vegetation that grows on the bank next to the water definitely feels the effects, especially if the roots extend out in the water. I would be nervous to try it but I don't have any experience with cypress. Sorry, hope you find the answer!

When u say Pond weeds do u mean lily pads?? My pond is overrun by lily pads. I can't see the beautiful water which makes me sad
@bbfarmsmaple80114 ай бұрын
Fluridone will kill lily pads, but it is non selective and will kill almost every plant in the pond also. You could try spraying just the lilies, a section at a time waiting a couple weeks between treatments, with Flumioxazin. We use a product called Flumigard to treat lily pads, and it works very well. Good luck!

@@bbfarmsmaple8011 I appreciate the reply. I think hiring some1 w 1 of those machines is what I need. The roots r very thick down there. I think that's my best option. I appreciate the video, tho. I've been learning alot about lakes since I bought my property.

Does it promote roll over
@bbfarmsmaple80112 ай бұрын
Water turnover? No, Fluridone won't cause a turnover. It usually takes a temperature change to do that. Thanks for asking!

How do I apply it to the pond?
@bbfarmsmaple8011 Жыл бұрын
Just mix it with 5 gallons of water, and spray it all around the pond. You can even pour it in, in a few different locations. It will move through the entire pond.
