Mark, That cabbage and bacon dish is a real go-to dependable, easy-to-prepare, meal that works at home or on the trail. I'm glad you brought that to my attention.

Mark, my friend, your spatula work leaves something to be desired. 🙂 I gotta say, these large capacity, and light weight wood stoves are pretty interesting.

Yeah, I need to add a spatula to my cook kit. I do get to taste the ingredients this way😅. Thanks for commenting Jim

interesting stowe for sure, thx for the info. BUT i did smile a bit when you light a fire as a response to a “dont light a fire” ban.

We are fortunate that we are allowed to use charcoal during a fire ban and I have to get it started somehow. Thanks for commenting

Great video issuing charcoal in Picogrill. I've had some sagging in fire grate, nothing too drastic, but noticeable, using charcoal. Have you experienced that?
@MarkYoungBushcraft2 жыл бұрын
Yes, a little sagging but it still folds without issue. Thanks for commenting

Nice addition to the multi-fuel stove video collection. I have several questions. Have you ever tracked the time taken to cook a meal (or boil some water) from stove setup to food being ready? Are the aluminum and SS fire shields effective? They both would block flaming coals but both materials conduct heat fairly well.
@MarkYoungBushcraft2 жыл бұрын
Second question first. Yes, a windshield would be helpful in many situations. In this case I am using a fire pit to block wind. Plus need to be able to see the stove so I can get it on video. As to your first question. I have not timed my meals for a few reasons. First is that I am never in that much of a rush. Second, and more to the point, there are too many factors that affect timing, including environmental conditions, maintaining even cook temperatures, and what else I am doing at the time, like cooking multiple items or trying to record my efforts. Hope this helps. Thanks for commenting

Right on. Never though of it as a "gold pan". It is actually called a paella pan. Thanks for commenting

3 ur 4 pieces of charcoal would be easier to use and about right for the task. The oven worked very well. Thanks.

Hi Mark, Just wondering if the days of nearly any kind of fire cooking might be a bad idea? Charcoal is maybe fine, but it's not foolproof. I'm in Minnesota, and know that the fires are coming here, sooner. Loved Zipp stoves, coffee can stoves all my hiking career. Maybe it'd be better to review alcohol and butane heretofore? Not a criticism, just a reflection upon an un certain future. Peace.

This could be a very controversial subject for many in the bushcraft world. I still enjoy having an open fire but find I am doing so less and less. Besides the safety factor, there is the impact on the environment with regards to cutting down trees, disposing of charred wood and ash, etc. I find I use my small wood stoves more than an open fire for these reasons. I do hope I can continue to do so when it is safe. Fire building is still an essential survival skill for anyone who goes to the woods. Thanks for commenting

Another great video, thank you for sharing. Quick question, when you use charcoal, or have to use charcoal do you ever use mesquite chips for flavor ? Thanks again and Take Care

I have not thought to do that before but I will the next time I cook some meet over the coals. Thanks for commenting
