Using The xTool F1 Ultra Laser In The Studio To Create Steel Shot Plates

As a jeweler I use hundreds of tools. A recent addition to the studio has been the xTool F1 Ultra laser. This is a dual laser (20 W blue and 20 W IR fiber) that is incredibly versatile and useful.
In this tutorial I hope to illustrate one of the thousands of uses for it, in this case making steel shot plates. A shot plate is a small version of a die, used to form 3 dimensional pieces that can be used to create or add to fine jewelry.
I will summarize the basic steps for using the laser and then producing a delicate silver pin using the tool created with the tool. A wonderful way to meld technologies that span centuries!
Be aware that all safety precautions are your responsibility. This video is intended to inspire and provide some direction. Lasers, torches, saws etc. are inherently potentially dangerous and should not be attempted unless you have the confidence and safety training needed.

Very nice. May I ask what kind of steel the block is made of and is it hardened? Source?

@@marknelson7451 thanks. Mild steel, not hardened. Off cuts from eBay
