I followed this video today using the demo soldier, so I could go through the process, and everything worked perfectly. Thank you for creating this series!

cool, tried it and that looks fantastic, like I don't have to bothering myself with animation stuff but get something I like just in 10 minutes.

Funny how I was dealing with issues yesterday that this fixes. Mostly in not wanting to resend the files from cc after a pose adjustment. I am really loving CC4 and Zbrush's bridging. I need a bridge from Marvelous designer to CC so i can make sure i get exact alignment with out having to fiddle with minor alignment issues. Like it's too far forward by 3 CCunits(CM, yeah?). I am really liking the ease of pose stacking with these tools. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Also, subscribed for the end bit. I cannot wait to see the rest of the things for the CC4&Zbrush bridge. Once the utter confusion that was Zbrush ui got out of the way and I learned it more, I'm liking it!

It's amazing how easy it is nowadays to do that stuff. Back when I was in CG school we had to spend hours making skeletons and complex rigging in Maya, and if you made a single mistake during the process it wouldn't work right. I make characters for 3D printing, and posing in Zbrush with T-pose master was always a pain. I tried GoZ and GoB to rig it in Blender, but it didn't work well. CC4 is 300 bucks though, not sure it's worth it if I just use it to pose characters. I might try the trial version on my next project and see. But if it uses layers I already see a problem, given that layers in Zbrush are bugging out when you bake them with polypaint on your mesh. I also wonder if Poseable Symmetry will still work correctly.
@MichaelPavlovich Жыл бұрын
Poseable symmetry should be fine as long as your mesh is symmetrical (pretty sure at least...), but yeah, might have to jump through some polypaint layer hoops (wonder if you can history project a pre-baked state to a post layer baked state to keep your polypaint from getting weird). But like you say, for $300 worth of my time, if I'm posing a lot of stuff...it pays for itself pretty quickly, especially since I'm certainly not about to make my own rigs and such \_(-_-)_/

For some odd reason, when I import my model in, it is way off center. The far edge of the right hand is in the center of the plane, instead of the center of the actual model. Any idea what is going wrong here or how to fix it?

I have this problem. I've followed till this point with no issue 26:25. When I send from cc to zbrush via plugin, the body mesh doesn't change in zbrush. everything else changes if I click A-pose or T-Pose, but the body stays in the default position. It has layer created, but when i use it's slide, it doesn't do anything. no information on it. In CC the body is rigged properly and all aniamations work as they should. Same happens if I export any pose from cc to zbrush. everything moves accordingly, other than body mesh. Can you pinpoint what might be a problem Michael? Thanks in advance. *Update It seems I had my body mesh name changed back to DemoSoldier in Zbrush and when I was exporting from CC, where it's called Body, it wasn't syncing with each other.

Hey Mike, I'm having an issue where when I send my pose back to ZBrush from CC4, my teeth, claws, and hooves will not move and stay in their original position. What am I doing wrong?
@MichaelPavlovich Жыл бұрын
When in doubt, clear it out - Preferences > GoZ > Clear Cache, restart CC and ZB, GoZ ZB to CC to re-link fresh (update, current pose), apply the pose in CC (you can always save a pose out in your custom content folder for safe keeping at any time, agnostic of this workflow), GoZ back to ZB. Sometimes GoZ files can get confused while iterating, especially when dealing with names that don't change / aren't unique, etc... If that doesn't work, it might be something deeper, but that fixes 99.999% of my linking and updating issues

Quick question Mike-the right knee pad did not stay fixed when you started doing the animations, what caused this? Also will this work for ZBrush 2022 or only 2023? This is a rad vid Mike Thank You!!
@MichaelPavlovich Жыл бұрын
If I understand correctly it was changing the attachment joint for the knee to the correct joint ( 20:50 ), and totally, the GoZ part should work fine with whatever version of ZBrush, and it says the Pose Tools Plugin is compatible as far back as 2021!
@ZephrusPrime Жыл бұрын
@@MichaelPavlovich At 28:30 it shows the knee pad went back to the original position not being parented as the left knee pad. That's what I was curious about what had happened.

@@ZephrusPrime Ohhhhh lol good eye - I didn't notice the knee joint was off until I was editing the video, so edited in that insert section showing how to change bones, but yes past that insert the knee has the incorrect attachment

I alway have trouble linking 3rd party programs with Zbrush. It almost never recognizes them even after setting up everything properly. Like for instance I did exactly as you said to do with the Zbrush pose link files and it shows up in Zbrush plugins but if I go under GoZ the Character Creator isnt there and cant find it even though its downloaded and I can open it and doesnt recognize it even after I clear the cash and try to update all paths. How do you set up the link with Character Creator and Zbrush?
@franksculpts4625 Жыл бұрын
Nevermind I found out to properly use GoZ is to run Zbrush as Administrator and it worked. Bit weird you have to run as an administrator to use a program specifically for Zbrush.
@Kuziminski Жыл бұрын
Glad you figured it out, I had the same problem and was about to suggest the same thing. Amusingly in an annoying way, because of needing to run in admin mode, my loupedeck has to run in admin mode to send commands. To which making it admin privs on startup causes it to not actually start up with windows... oh computers

Did you notice it does a very wierd deformation on the elbow and on the Wrist Extensors ? When you use the Body Rig/Full body to check animation. It rotates way too much the elbow outwards.If you use Demo soldier or a character with not very outstanding muscles you easily miss that... Could you try mesh with strong muscles to see if the weird deformation on the elbow happens ?
@MichaelPavlovich Жыл бұрын
weird deformations would be a result of suboptimal joint placement which you could fix with "Check Animation" before leaving AccuRIG, and/or a paint weights pass afterwards kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2myZ6uXhrKWp5o

Alright so I tried CC4 and there is one massive problem : it doesn't work with folders. When I sent the character back into Zbrush after binding the skeleton, the script started to slooooowly duplicate every subtool from each folder, move them to the bottom of the subtool list, and delete the polypaint. After 15 minutes I just cancelled the script, it wasn't even halfway through ( around 30 subtools ). Givent that I generally work on characters with dozens or even hundreds of pieces, this is gonna be a real pita. EDIT : yep, I tried to delete the folders and it works, and it keeps the polypaint too. It seems that folders make the script freak out. Ah well, still better than using T-pose master I guess. EDIT 2 : after doing another pose and sending it to Zbrush, it's freaking out again. Instead of posing the subtools, it creates new ones without polypaint at the bottom of the subtool list. Why ? Also it doesn't create layers nor adds a new pose in the CC4 plugin menu.
@lzzzrd167 Жыл бұрын
Encountered the same problems. Fixed it by turning off the parameter "Preferences > GoZ > import as SubTool". I also pressed "Clear cache files" just in case. Works with folders
@andygomez3dart Жыл бұрын
Do you think the wierd deformation on the elbow only happens cause the elbow does not have an appropriate manual topology for animation ? What do you think guys ?
@MichaelPavlovich Жыл бұрын
that's a good point - aside from the suboptimal joint placement or painting weights in the other reply - the topology of the demo soldier is definitely not great (actually, pretty terrible), obviously don't take the results on the demo soldier topology to be representative of how a character with halfway decent topology would react. Actually looking at the overall results, Character Creator did a pretty phenomenal job given the geometry
@andygomez3dart Жыл бұрын
Thanks for confirming all of that Michael. I am glad it wasn't only me nor a glitch. What I find priceless among the rigging is the ability of keeping the Subdivision levels. This will definitely make things easier for animators.

Save your ZProject, save your CC Project, shut them both down, start up ZBrush, go to Zbrush > Preferences > GoZ > Clear cache files, open your ZProject, open your CC project, GoZ from ZBrush to CC with Update selected, then you can GoZ from CC back to ZBrush with a proper Relink
