@@HunterXTwitch What about it makes is more seamless than having two monitors? The only difference is you need one less power chord. The only benefit of this feature is due to the huge physical size of this monitor, making fitting another monitor next to it a bit more difficult. Aside from that unlikely scenario, there is no other benefit.
@Murkymaid Жыл бұрын
I can see this being really useful for some hyperspecific scenarios like software developers that wanna run an app on multiple pieces of physical hardware or maybe even in data centers that have multiple separate server systems, but i also think its kinda overkill for those scenarios so i'm not sure who this monitor is meant to be for. Still a handy feature for those who need it.

Software dev here. I am literally typing this on a Samsung G9 Neo using split screen. Macbook on the left and Windows on the right. Same keyboard/mouse using InputLeap (shares mouse/keyboard, like if you were on the same computer with no lag). For this application, its godmode. PS: if you are a gamer, dont get a monitor this wide. It sucks for all the games I tried it on. Even something like DCS or MSFS sux because the field of view gets stretched towards the sides, so you dont actually get to view more area, just more pixels stretched over a bigger area, which is even less useful. Even something like world of warcraft that can render on the full thing, the UI will not be at the correct place and you have to customize it a lot, and end up with empty areas towards the sides.

I don't want the projector to have a 32:9 ratio, but I would like to have the 32:9 ratio to replace my dual screens. With running 2 inputs in the monitor at 16:9, I get the best of both worlds, able to do dual screen efficiently, and play games at 32:9 with that full immersive experience. Totally worth it.

This monitor would require a LARGE desk for two setups and a huge amount of money to build the two PCs that will run at 4K. This feature is awesome but it's ridiculously expensive so yes but no.
@Rocky712_ Жыл бұрын
If this screen fits on your desk, you will have the space for a 2nd device, so I don't think thats a reasonable counter argument. The usecase for this is more for people that use multiple devices at once and those devices are certainly not 2 gaming PCs. E.g. streamers that have a dedicated streaming PC, developers that want to test something easily, maybe you got a dedicated server and want to Check something on it. For just gamers this feature is useless though.

@@Rocky712_ What kind of logic is that? Extra deskspace doesn't appear out of thin out of to accomodate a second tower and a second M+KB setup because you ran out of space after installing this monitor... 99.9% of people do not buy desks large enough to accomodate two towers and 2 M+KB. There are no reasonable use cases for this monitor. Professionals have multiple monitors that are for more expensive and specialized, not one giant monitor connected to multiple devices.
@Rocky712_ Жыл бұрын
@@calvin659 @calvin659 If you buy 2 separate monitors, you will loose as much desk space as with this one. Your point simply doesn't make sense. This monitor is also not for 99.9% of people. The fact you simply say "Professionals" shows how undifferentiated your comment is. There are so many different use cases for professionals and your's with multiple special monitors really only applies to professional Video and Foto editors that need specific colour ranges. I'd never buy this, I rather go with 2 screens and accept the fact that there are bezels around the monitor and they will never be perfectly aligned. But if you have the extra spare money, this monitor is better than 2 separate monitors. And I literally mentioned what kind of people benefit from such a monitor. It's a 240hz monitor after all, you only need that for people that will play Games on it and have a top high end rig that can even hit those frames, but for Gamers alone this is to expensive. It really is best suited for gaming streamers and devs (who play a lot of games themselves usually).
@tzj21 Жыл бұрын
@@calvin659 That's not quite correct. You can connect the same PC twice to this monitor to act as two monitors. Also, even if it were true that 99.9% of people do not have large desks, the 0.1% do. My desk is big enough to not only fit this montor but also 2 more side monitors. This montor actually costs very little compared to other hobbies such as camera and audiophile equipment. This monitor is barely the price of a single lens for photography. I think you are not the target audience. Yes, I can split screen at 120HZ on prior models I mentioned above, but It would be more easy to load up the other screen on my top screen "55 LG." Hence, having 1 person sadly blocking the view of their screen themselves. - Monitor peaking when playing with a buddy isn't really possible. Love this use case scenario.

I have the older regular 49" g9. I have some notes: The PBP mode is mainly a multitasking feature. Not a gaming feature. I for example often work with raspberry pis or on my steam deck in desktop mode. I spent a lot of time setting up my steam deck exactly how I wanted so it was joy to just be able to hook it up to the same monitor as my desktop. Have the documentation on one side and be able to use the same mouse and keyboard through ann app like barrier for example. 2 PCs. But 1 monitor and 1 set of peripherals. For productivity: I'm a programmer and I often have 3 files open side by side. Even though I'm working on only one. Having a constant reference on the other two files that influence the file I'm working on is so helpfull. As for desktop layout: I use powertoys fancy zones instead of the samsung provided app. It takes longer to setup but it has more options. Plus powertoys includes many other utilities that in my opnion should be standard in windows. Like text extraction from images, Color picker, etc...

Dude.. the super wide productivity hack is not going full screen, but working with 4 documents side by side. As a paper pusher I already use 2x 16:9 screens showing for example a couple of source documents, the document I'm creating and a browser research window all at once. A super wide looks like an absolute productivity dream. Even when the browser leads you astray you have those other windows right there reminding you what you were doing. And if the screen supports splitting one feed into two screens, something I know my friend's one does, you can use windows key + arrows to quickly align windows to screen corners. You can also plug a pc and a console. This monitor is also amazing for streaming. You can plug your gaming pc on the left and your streaming pc on the right and with a program you can browse seamlessly through both pc with a single kbm. It's absolutly fantastic

It's called picture-by-picture and it's been on TVs and monitors for over a decade. Some 8K TVs can do 4x4K120 inputs simultaneously. Although you can use 2 PCs at the same time, which can be great for people running 2 operating systems, and you can even use the same mouse and keyboard on both systems using software as if it were a single hybrid system or use a KVM, it is more likely to be used as a secondary screen.

its intersting that you loved this thing. i personally found the extra screen to be EXTREAMLY distracting on FPS games. a bush moved in the corner and it took my eye away from the main center. with how large the screen was it took enough time I could count many preventable deaths from in front that were preventable. not only that the very few times it saved me from seeing someone from the side was far smaller then the deaths it caused. I rarely found a use for it out side of games. so the first opportunity I got to sell it for a decent price I did so and went back to my 3x1 27in set up.

I'd love this! One screen PC focused on resource intensive work (video editing, code compiling, publishing training content) while the other screen PC is free to task (or game 😉) at full performance 😁

@7:50 Most of the time software devs don't work on one file. Multiple files open and visible for peaking the lines is the advantage of this screen for devs

Something to keep in mind is with things such as, code editing. With code editing (example VS) you wouldn't be able to use the full width like you said, ALTHOUGH you still would... I've seen no serious project, or unserious for that matter, that uses a single coding file. So the screen would in that scenario be utilized by being able to keep a lot of tabs open simultaneously. Being coding the tabs talk to eachother which allows the coder to keep track of all the "code movement", or "code flow" if you will, across the tabs which can be beneficial.

If you buy two of these, you could have a dual monitor setup on two PCs at the same time

I have the LG - UltraGear and it's around the same, I keep hearing you say in your video "This is the first monitor in the world" when most the things you say, my monitor can already do. The UltraGear is around $500 cheaper than the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9, can have dual screen in the same screen and can even hook up two PCs using HD4K; Right now, I have my PC and my switch set up to it so I can switch it between my PC and my Switch. I can even have my switch in the bottom corner of my screen while my PC screen shows behind it in full. The refresh rate on it is 120hz which is a little slower, but still works stupidly well. It's a 45" monitor compared to the 50" monitor that Samsung has, but regardless, I feel that if you're going to spend money on a big monitor; If you have the money, go for the Odyssey, but if you don't really have the money for the Odyssey but still want a large monitor, go for the UltraGear :)

I have the previous 49-inch Neo G9 hooked up to my Strix 4090. With this earlier 49-inch version, they have native G Sync support. I know a lot of monitor manufacturers are giving NVidia the finger on G Sync as they would have to pay for an expensive module in each and every monitor, so Samsung dropped the G Sync in this larger version. I have the desk space and until I saw no native G sync support on the new version, I was very disappointed as I think at $2,500 Samsung should have included the G Sync and charged $2,600. Would have been worth it for me.

PbP and PiP is not an exclusive feature for this monitor. I got a Ultrawide 34" monitor for my gaming PC 11 months ago for 500$ (one of the cheapest decent UW gaming monitors) and it also has these features. Granted it is not an ultra, ultra wide like this one, so when i split the screen I don't get two wide 4K screens, but for work it is very useful - like having two 4:3 monitors connected to the same PC, and without the bezel between the screens, it takes less space than two monitors.

team screen peaking has been common in "slower paced" esports like dota, and battleroyales or games with generally slow times to kill. its very very common for teams to play online games in a pseudo lan setup in a house or office to replicate this exact effect that used to be only really possible at LAN events.

That's a pretty standard feature for widescreen business focused monitors. They'll have two HDMI and DisplayPorts, and the monitor will let you toggle between one input, splitscreen, or PiP.

My dad got this Monitor for free because they sent him the white one instead of the black one so he asked for a refund so he could buy the proper one he ordered, the black one. They gave him a refund but never sent us anything regarding returning the monitor so he just kept the whiten one because well, it was free lol.

OMG split screen is awesome! Yeah it is, shame it’s not implemented in many games and your only option is this monitor and 2 systems if you want that. Btw, Fortnite can be played in local multiplayer mode / split-screen on a single system.
