Small detail but worth mentioning: When you attach the same tracking number to two orders, the secondary order needs to be "marked as shipped".
@MakingEndsMeet_JudysStopNShop4 ай бұрын
5:01 The fees are the same calculated by eBay for free shipping or charging shipping. But the difference happens if you have a return. You don't get the shipping back and you may end up paying the return shipping also. By doing calculated shipping or charging a flat fee shipping if you have a return you can set your preferences for the buyer to pay for the return if it's one of those situations where they just change their mind or have buyers remorse and say hey I want to return this item. in that situation they'll pay for the return shipping and you don't have to pay them back for the shipping that they paid to begin with. The only time I pay for return shipping or reimburse them for their shipping is if there was actually something wrong with the item that they purchased from me. then there's no avoiding that loss because it's better than having negative feedback.
@brianroe884 ай бұрын
As far as free shipping vs paid. There is a difference sometimes. Many states don't charge sales tax on shipping, and therefore you don't pay eBay final valve fees on that part of the sales tax. California is a good example of this. It isn't a large difference, but it is a difference

But so far no sales on them. It feels like there is a glitch somewhere in the system, I know other sellers are having slow sales also. When I started this I watched many video's, but yours are the only ones I watch every week. Thanks for the videos!

Hey Justin, love the channel and your advice. This one goes out to the question about combined shipping. From my experience. Calculated shipping will never combine in check out. But if you offer a flat rate, then as long as they check them out in the same transaction eBay will automatically combine them into one nice price! So…. Anything you wouldn’t want to combine with another, just offer calculated.

6:24 if you refund the buyer because their address was wrong just keep in mind that if you paid a promoted listing ad fee on that sale you may not get refunded for your promoted listing ad fees. at least that's what I've experienced. please confirm with eBay and maybe ask them if you can refund the buyer everything but the Ad fee?

Hey JR - it's not guaranteed that when a top rated seller gives just a partial refund that the buyer's negative feedback would be removed. eBay only states that the seller can submit the feedback for removal review. I, instead, gave a buyer a full refund for fear of a negative review - it was a $16 item.

I'm so very happy that you put a spotlight the issue of undervalued listings. I see so much lost potential while comping in the field. I'll see an item that has sold consistently for decent money suddenly fall off , because someone listed, or sold it, for far too little. It only needs to happen once and the market value is altered indefinitely.

I do have a question similar to one asking this video, I recently sold an old Indian artifact, as I am working on selling off my Arrowhead collection piece by piece, this specific artifact was an old stone axe head that was found along with some of my Arrowhead collection. Anyways I had MANY pictures of the item in the listing an it sold after a few weeks, I had it shipped out that same day, but the buyer received it an instantly opened a return, the reason they selected was "just didn't like it' with a message that said don't look so good. It's been about a week an I haven't heard anything about them shipping it back,I can't tell if this is a real return or someone just trying to play the system and get their money back along with keeping my item or not. But don't they have to provide tracking info when shipping something back?
@mhpart684 ай бұрын
In regards to combined shipping: Somebody correct me if this doesn't always work, or if there are instances where you might not want to do this. I sell in categories (sheet music, comics, ephemera) where people regularly buy two or more items in separate listings and I have "pay immediately..." enabled, and I have not offered free shipping. I switch to the buy bulk label page and click on "combine shipments by buyer" which does just what it sounds like it will do, and then subtract what I paid for the label from what the buyer paid and issue a shipping overage refund. This skips the step of providing a tracking number for each extra order and clicking "mark as shipped". I've not had any issues doing it this way and I've done this a bunch of times. Each item shows as shipped and has the associated tracking number.

Hey Justin! Thanks for all the awesome content. I’ve been watching your videos since last year when I started selling on eBay, and I always learn something new or find fresh BOLOs, although I mostly sell liquidation pallets. Quick question: If I use Pirate Ship or another shipping app, can I avoid eBay fees on the shipping part? I’ve noticed that the "box in a bag" option is way cheaper on Pirate Ship, and saving even a dollar on shipping fees really adds up if you’re selling a lot. Also, do you have any other shipping tips to cut costs? In your August 5 video around 10:12, you shipped a Skims Logo Mesh Cami Bodysuit Size 4X for just $2.25! That’s super low-how did you do that? Hey Justin, thanks for another great video. I have a question, I am a newbie. If you have multiples of the same item that are exactly the same I understand that I can list them as multiples to give the buyer the option of buying more than one. My questions is, does this "cheapen" the item? Meaning, if the buyer sees that I have more than one of an item, it's not that "unique" and the buyer may not want to pay the price I have given the item. I deal more in ephemera and paper items that are more unique. I have been selling these items that I have multiples of one at a time and after it sells and is delivered, I will list the next one. I am rethinking this concept and would love your thoughts on this. I hope I explained it so you can understand what I am asking, it's difficult to do that in this medium. Love your channel!

Justin, I apologize if this issue was already covered by someone else. I know you know this, but it wasn't clear in your answer. In regards incorrect shipping addresses (either item is returned or buyer requests you to ship to another address), to stay in the good graces of eBay and maintain Seller Protection, Seller should cancel transaction (using "problem with address" reason) and refund payment. Reach out to Buyer and tell them they can add another or updated address to their account and repurchase the item. I've done these several times and have had no complaints from the Buyers involved.

The wrong shipping I had to cancel the transaction because the buyer didn't get back to me and I couldn't ship it. I sent out invoices to the 2 people and also sent them a message a day later asking them if they ordered the item by mistake or is there a reason they are taking so long to pay for the items. They still haven't got back to me and Ebay doesn't seem to have any options anymore to report a Non-paying Bidder or cancel the transaction without hurting your seller rating. How do you do that now?

Do you understand the policy as I do- as when seller address is in the USA you aren’t charged the international fee? @wwz10114 ай бұрын
Thing to remember if you purposely under price your items. Making money on your good items is how you offset the loss from mistakes. Everyone wants a discount, no one will buy your mistakes. So I price things competitively, but I do not under price items. If you don't make mistakes, then I believe you aren't taking enough chances. I have a small budget for taking chances on items that don't show up on research, but I "think" they could have value. I don't need them all to hit, but one hit can often cover 4 or 5 misses.

Hi Justin, thank you for all your informative content, it’s been insanely helpful. I have a flipwise specific question. When you go through the listing process, do you keep note of the purchase price between the time you take the tag off for photographing and the time you enter the number into flipwise? I guess this applies to thrift stores where the receipts only list a category rather than the item name.
@kimchoi06134 ай бұрын
I had a similar issue, my workaround is to take a photo using my phone of all the items together as soon as I get home. I group any items with the same price together and I make sure the price tag can be seen in the photo, that way I can refer back to it if I need to know the price later. Once I have listed the items into Flipwise I delete the photos. If for any reason I can’t add them to Flipwise inventory immediately, I at least have a record of where I bought them, their price and the date purchased. Hope this helps you!

Hi Justin. I'm sure you're tired of hearing everyone say "I love your channel" so I won't. (Just kidding. Great videos. Keep it up.) My question is about those multiple listing services like Vendoo. Have you had any experience on them either good or bad? It would seem to me if the idea of selling on eBay is to get as many eyeballs on your merchandise as you can, and cross-listing apps allow you the ease of only creating one main listing which they disseminate, wouldn't it makes sense to cross list on all the platforms simultaneously? (I think they also offer some kind of feature that automatically delists items when it sells on one platform so you don't have multiple sales). Are there any downsides to cross-listing stuff? Also in a kind-of related question -- you've talked about the workarounds of trying to archive a listing so you don't have to enter the data all over again (for example, if you have an annual Halloween specific item, unless you create an out-of-stock quantity count or save the item as a draft and keep re-saving it before eBay expunges it, I don't think eBay has a way to archive your info. Wouldn't using these cross listing apps solve that issue? (I think they let you keep all you data and photos even after the item sells)? Thanks again!

What do you mean "tread lightly" if I undervalue my items? Is there an eBay mafia that's going to come after me if I undercut them? In a competitive market, the only thing that gains advantage is price. I just purchased 300 items at $1 each. Average selling price on eBay is $12 plus shipping. I listed a few yesterday for $10 free shipping. Sold one in 4 hours. Net gain was $3.86. I am ok with that because this is a hobby for me. If someone wants to take issue with that, Im happy to sell the rest to them for $3.86 each. Great videos BTW. Love your insight.
@justinresells4 ай бұрын
Sorry, I didn't explain that well. I just meant, if you are WAY undercutting the market, like listing $100 items for $10, the value you gain by making quick sales for a small amount is likely outweighed by the damage you're doing to the market longer term if you regularly sell in that niche, and that impacts more than just yourself. Price is the best way to be competitive for sure, so undercut away! But at some price point there are diminishing returns, so tread lightly. (Also the eBay fishing lure mafia will hunt you down!)

23 sales…for the week, not the entire month. With simple math…that’s about 90 sales a month.

@@epivot1562 Thats great but thats not what was said @19:10 He says "I have over 1000 listings and sells maybe about 20-30 tops a month. trust me I pay attention to detail and really dont need a basic math lesson, but just to be clear, since you probably lack attention skills, thats 240-360 sales a year.. lol

Hey, first time watching your channel. This video came across my KZbin home page and immediately caught my attention since I was looking for a way to make more money with the money I have already. I would like to start a side hustle outside of my job in order to get an on-going cash flow, but I have no idea what reselling is all about. Would greatly appreciate if you could help me jump start.

Just wondering Justin (JR, I hear), why do you go out of the way to say your ROI? It should just be dollars and cents. I may only make 30% ROI on something i paid $30 and sold for $100 (math>?) but i made more than a ROI selling something for 25 cent and sold for $8. What gives?

You put "0.00" for the cost of your dad's shoes since they were given to you for free. On items I've gathered for free I have been putting in "0.01" so I can actually see an ROI. Maybe you can add this question to one of your future videos since it relates to Flipwise and whether someone should put "0.00" or "0.01" as a cost and why? Thanks
@justinresells3 ай бұрын
I don’t recommend putting 0.01 just to get an ROI, because the ROI you get is wildly inflated and not accurate and messes up your real ROI averages. it’s okay if some sales don’t produce an ROI. if you invested no money you can’t have a return on that investment and that’s okay.

love watching you but holly cow your sales are low. not bragging here (and this is my full time gig) but I pulled in 18k in July and that's just a slightly higher than average net profit for me. that works out to $580 a day. I really hope your sales pick up and your main gig is paying the bills, good luck. I would suggest that everyone remember they can do way better than your sales totals when you show them :)

I just had to reduce the price of some Hokas because of the authentication program. I feel like people aren't faking Hokas (?) And my buyer probably doesn't want to pay the $14.95 shipping!
@karenoflaherty79654 ай бұрын
I think you answered my question with your comment about Hokas. So do you just sell them for $99 even if they're worth more in order to avoid the shoe authentication program?
@sarahkoltz80174 ай бұрын
@karenoflaherty7965 it's $75. So in my example I had the shoes at $80 but the authentication+shipping was $15. Lowering to $74.99 let me offer $7 shipping, making them way more attractive!

I'm curious! What ever happened to that lamp from a month or two ago that you all needed to research a little more that looked really expensive? 🫰🏻
