You missed to check "make metadata permanent" in the QR code for clean HDMI. By not checking that checkbox, you will have to use the QR code every single time, you turn the camera on. If you make it permanent, it will continue to default to clean HDMI, even after a power cycle.

labs is such a blessing! i modified the USB boot script to not include the auto capture :D now it just boots on USB power and then the HDMI script automatically enables the clean feed. great!

I've been using these settings from the GoPro Hero 7 Black. I have a 7 multi cam LIVE camera setup which include 4 GoPro 7 Blacks and 3 SONY SLR cams.

I remember something about turning off hvec to reduce the latency. This was for Gopro 7 and might apply to newer ones too. Hevc is great for reducing file sizes but is extra compression work for the tiny processor.

I’m currently using my GoPro for live-streaming via USB-C straight into my PC. I’m the using the GoPro webcam software to turn it into a webcam while using it with OBS. I’m curious if any settings I change will take effect when in webcam mode, given when it’s in this mode, it would let me change anything, and acts as if it’s defaulting to a camera setting preset when in webcam mode. Maybe I should connect it to the computer using the mini hdmi instead?

For now I do not see any action camera for live-streaming during bike rides. But media mod and HDMI is very painful, last GoPro 7 was with built in HDMI out. Pity that new GP Hero 11 Mini do not have HDMI out…

Aaron, great video (as always). I have a quick question for you though. When feeding out to HDMI, do you know how much power the camera requires. I ask this because we were using the GP9 last month for a live overhead shot of a mandala being created by some Tibetan monks at our church, with the HDMI feeding a projector showing the image on a screen in the front of the sanctuary. Despite being connected to continual power using a wall wart, the battery kept running down. Maybe I grabbed an old one that had to little juice? My other settings were setup as you describe in the video. Thanks for any thoughts you have on that. OBTW, absolutely love the PK stands for the ATEM. I recently bought one for my new Extreme ISO and boy does it look and work great! Keep up the fantastic work you do here!

Oh strange! I suspect the usb power brick was under powered. I haven't checked what it officially requires but id look for one that can do at least 5v 2.4a. And thanks for the support!

They'll never do this 🤣 But it would be amazing if GoPro would add NDI. There's so much fun potential for action cameras in livestreaming! It's nice that they at least gave us rtmp. I set up an rtmp server so I could add the wireless gopro feed into my mix, but the delay is brutal. Plus you have to use their app, and that means only one gopro per phone/app...😑 I eventually just upgraded to the Logitech Mevo Start because of the built-in NDI. For anyone wanting a wireless livestream "action" cam, it's not technically an action cam, but the Mevo is amazing (for this use-case, obviously it's not competing with a proper camera). I feel like no one even knows about this camera! They also come in a 3-pack, which makes wireless multicam streams literally effortless. Or go wired with the bonus functionality of POE. GoPro walked so Mevo could ruuuuuuun!!! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Great video! I have a question that you mention in this video about HDMI two potentially extra screen so you can see what you’re filming? I know it doesn’t really go with this video but you mention a lot of great things that I am interested in using. I wanted to set up my GoPro through GoPro labs for me to enable an external monitor and I went to the labs to find the QR code for that and I couldn’t find it. Can you please help thank you.

Amazing, but works only if you connect an hdmi cable ... if you want to do a livestreaming via rtmp, the gopro (mine is 10) will use a default profile...does anyone know how to change it?

FYI, clean hdmi out with gopro labs doesn't work with the hero 8.

It does as of the latest GoPro Hero 8 labs firmware from July 2022. They luckily refreshed it once more because of a different issue.

@@erikpaullive Did you make sure, to force refresh the Labs page, before downloading ? It's very persistant, if you've been on it before. Make sure, that it says "July 2022" besides the GoPro Hero 8 firmware. I've literally just double checked and I have auto clean HDMI on my Hero 8 with that firmware.

If streaming a gopro through a phone is my only option, wireless uses the 50GB tethering limit, right? Is there any way to stream a gopro WIRED to/from a phone?

If you're sharing your phone's internet in any form, wired or wireless, it will count against the tethering limit of your carrier. If you have an app on the phone that can livestream itself, that would look like your phone's own usage so wouldn't account against the tethering limit.

There's nothing built in for that, but you could use a separate wireless HDMI transmitter and receiver, although at that point you'll be much better off with a better camera than a GoPro for that.

Or you just buy a HERO4 or similar and won't have all this hassle with newer GoPros and still can use it for live streaming in Full HD.
