Thank you! How nice to see someone go right to the point of the matter! With so many rambling KZbin videos out there, that was refreshing. And thank you for having an extra person to film your step by step instead of trying to hold a camera with one hand lol. Gathering the extra fabric was a huge tip and I feel like I can move on from straight line serging now :-)

Jumping for joy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had this exact type of inside corner on a pattern I drafted for seat cushion covers. The tears I cried! Nothing I did worked no matter how many times I tried to sew it with my Sewing Machine! I see that you posted this lesson in 2014, but it wasn't anywhere I searched on KZbin. Thank you dear, dear Lady!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is one of the best technical instructions on how to maneuver those tough areas to serge I've found. Pulling slack on the threads for corners is brilliant and very helpful for home decor. I've have also seen to clip in diagonally 3/8" on an inner corner to make the finished line straighter. Thank you so much for this video. I've been overlocking for 2 decades and I learned several new things!

You may have made this back in 2014 but I'm just catching up with this now. Margaret, this is by far the best lesson I've had on how to handle curves and corners that I've ever had. Never before at lessons I've had have they been so informative. Thank you so much. I needed to know this. I am beginning to realise just how little I do actually know about my overlocker even though I went for lessons. I'm looking forward to learning more.

Thank you for taking the time to make such a wonderful video. I have never been happy with how to start and end overlocking in the round and have always veered off at the end which leaves an uneven, wonky edge. The method demonstrated towards the end of the video is fantastic and so neat!

I thought you did a great job. Easy to understand , you didn't go too fast or too slow. I tried to see if it showed why 7 people gave you a thumbs down because I have no clue why someone would think this video deserved a thumbs down ?!? I did not read down to see if anyone else gave a lot of the credit to your camera person. Did a SUPER Job of keeping the camera focused on what she was focusing on...great teamwork. Another great thing this lady does is as she is talking she is also using her hands and or anything that happens to be in her hands at the time to point out the area of the fabric or the machine that she is talking about so you don't have to guess what she is referring to. Thanks...great job.

The only criticism I would have is that although the focal point of the camera work was good, the camera itself was quite shaky. Otherwise, I agree that this is a great tutorial video all around! For once I get to see a good before-during-after!

It's super hard to hold a video camera steady even with the stabilizer option on. You have to use a tripod. Downside....it really limits the angles you can film without constantly stopping and starting. Then you have to spend a ton of time editing

Wow!With the cutting blade being a centimetre in front of the needles, always battled going around curves and corners, the needles never following in line with the cutter. Thanks so much Margaret, great tutorial. I was NEVER given lessons when I bought my first overlocker in the early 90's, I was given a crash course on how to drive it but not lessons on the fancy stuff. I sew teeny little Angel burial gowns and you have just made my day. For years I have struggled with whizzing around corners at one hundred miles an hr pulling firmly and then hoping both sides are even without chopping big chunks out of the sides of things... 11.40pm and I just had to put you method to the test...I will need a little practice not to have little pleats in the corners but Oh what a relief...ty, ty, ty!

Thank you! This has to be the most helpful serger lesson I have ever seen! (After threading, which gets a bad rep; b/c it's not any harder than threading a sewing machine four times. Really.) Thanks for taking the time to do this. Even serger books don't give these tricks for doing inside curves & corners. And the neat ending. Now I feel like I can serge anything! :-)
@Indydi

Really? Maybe it depends on your brand of serger. I can thread any of my sewing machines in seconds. The two looper threads on my serger require the tweezers, and take 4 times as long, each. On a good day.
@susanmei9980
@susanmei9980 2 жыл бұрын
@@Indydi I’m sorry it’s so difficult for you. I have a Brother 1034D, and it’s pretty simple. Tweezers definitely help! 😆 It still can be a pain though, bc nobody wants to thread a machine 4 x. It takes a little time, but it’s usually not difficult. Many ppl are actually scared of threading their serger, bc they think or have heard it will be too complicated. Many machines have the diagram right on the front, though, and that helps. 🌷
