so heartbreaking to see the hall halfempety. he would be a world-known star a century ago.

I started learning this a bit over a year ago. Its coming along for me, but the soloist here makes it sound effortless. Truly impressive.

"effortless" ! Only masters can make things appear so. No matter the medium if we walk away saying: "Hey, I think I could do that" we've been in the presence of greatness.

I did this in concert once and by the time I got to the end of the piece my double tonguing was too tired really to finish. I never practise the piece from start to finish and didn’t realize my tongue wasn’t up to the challenge.

I’m currently learning Blue Bells, and every time I listen I begin with an “alright this is very doable” and then THAT section hits (3:32-end) 😅

If you ever tried to learn a song like czardas or slavishe fantasia for trumpet, you will know how hard this is, big ups to the trombonist playing in front of a crowd, even a small one isn’t easy, been there done that can’t say I really enjoyed it.

Great original take, such a breath of fresh air! I think you stayed true to the original as well by emulating that early 20th century style of trombone. Really was a fun listen!

I did this in High School as a senior and I wish I could find a video of it. Obviously I didn’t play it this well but it was also my audition into music school. If anyone from 93’ Berea High School home of the Braves music dept knows about one….

I also recognize the clarinet player near that oboe player. Ah yes, he is my distant cousin, or more specifically, our ancestry goes back to our great grea great great x10 grandfather who fought 10 wars under Genghis Khan. Good memories
