To the people here commenting asking what this has to do with warfare. What does this have to do with warfare? not a damn thing. If youre looking for a video with Marines showing off what they can do in warfare theres plenty of moto vids on youtube with just that kind of thing. This is the Silent Drill team showing off some exhibition style close order drill. Theyre showing off precision and discipline which are two other traits the Marine Corps likes to pride itself on. Theyre used mostly for recruiting purposes and ceremonies, but the shit aint easy, so kudos to them. To the people questioning it it, I ask you all: Who the hell are you to question the way the United States Marine Corps conducts its business?.. Just pay your taxes and be happy theres no draft.. it always amazes me that people who have no experience with the military always have the biggest voices about how to make it better.

The very next day. Marines saw a huge elistment boost. I mean that as a total compliment. These marines on this video show it. I was in the Army till 08. And jumped out of planes. And I would trade all that to be the the guys in this video. Thats what sets Army from Marines. Discipline pride and tradition. Much respect usmc

What ever you do you do it to the best of your ability, you will see allot of people quit and slack "because its hard" that will after call them selves Marines but I promise you if you give it 100% ALL the time not only once a week or when its convenient and when the time comes to get out you will know you never gave up and that will make you a different man you will be that top .01% of our society! PROVEN FORMULA I DID IT!

The original purpose of close order drill is to get a group of soldiers on foot from one place to another at close quarters the most efficient way possible, like walking in step; and the safest way possible, like handling large weapons while marching long distances as a group. Everyone had to shift weapons to the other shoulder at the same time to keep from hitting each other. That's the theory as i see it. The SD Platoon has simply taken it to the level of an art form.

Brit here. Can someone explain the significance of silent drill? The discipline of these marines is extremely impressive but I'm stumped as to why it's necessary not to make any noise and not have an instructor call out commands. Almost all other examples of military drills that I've seen have involved a lot of heel stamping and have involved commands of some sort. Thanks in advance!

Ask yourself this: if you were an enemy and saw this would you even attempt to try to mess with a well drilled, professional, focused and un-intimidated branch of the US armed forces? Discipline and focus displayed here as well as trust and faith in your fellow Marines in a simple drill.. spills over to the combat theater. They get it right both places. They are the best.. that is why they are the few and the proud. They prepare, prepare, prepare.. It is why this branch is the best.

shyflirt1 You are so right about this dance team comparison. It all really is for show, but you seem a bit lacking in imagination of what it's about. Most of these movements are relics of the past as you've said, and some are just made up - no practical basis whatsoever! Simply put - it's a show of unit cohesion. Unit cohesiveness is what wins battles(and ball games).

joe Recto I respect the United States Military and America much the same way, even more, I also aspire to enlist in the nearest future possible. However, if you can't take a joke or without a sense of humor, I don't think these guys would appreciate you themselves either. This is a harmless joke about their unison and their accuracy in drills, and I'm sure all of them would laughed at this too because I've heard Marines got joked worse about their intelligence and they laughed it off just fine. Don't pull that mouth around, judging by your avatar, you're an adult so act like it, you think you're a tough nut aren't you, well, because you're excessive here and you're the joke, please walk away and chill your gung-ho blood down.
@matthewclifford7217
@matthewclifford7217 8 жыл бұрын
joe Recto It's the fact that you don't have any sort of logic to your comeback ridicule me but have to lowly rely on the kid card is plain pathetic. You don't have balls to yourself to talk about it by taking on my truth head on, let alone telling me what I have to do. Your seniority is nothing but a number, however, I hadn't seen the wisdom that came with it just yet.
@matthewclifford7217
@matthewclifford7217 8 жыл бұрын
joe Recto Then if you refuse to enter an intelligent conversation with me, then you've branded yourself as an idiot. Oh, that's the point, Marines HAVE taken insults from other branches, and it's worse, not just "making pizzas" as it's complete normalcy about the whole deal, note, HE does not make any sort of comment about their intelligence like others, however, it's a JOKE, again, in case you haven't read it right, about the accuracy and unison of their movements that it would be complete ridiculous if they make pizzas, which would totally look funny. Deal with it, gung-ho, if you can't take a joke right, go elsewhere as the Internet is not for you. He does not make it so that it's extremely repulsing or disgusting either like some many others individuals who would straight out said they're: "Robotics, imperialist killing machines." That's where you go in, not into a harmless joke such as this. Oh I have the rights to presume what a Marine would think, because THAT IS what they would think if they have a sense of humor, and they're in huge supply of it. If you know any Marines, go ask them if they'd taken an offense in this innocent comment, as nobody would OVERREACT completely like an idiot such as you. No, you do not make yourself clear. You make yourself as an idiot without a proper sense of humor and barrage others because it misalign your sense of a joke and an insult.
@matthewclifford7217
@matthewclifford7217 8 жыл бұрын
joe Recto People like you are part of the reason why civilians think that the military are a bunch of robots following orders, because whenever they say any sort of joke about them, even in the slightest, you hyperactive people come in and rain on their harmless joke. If he said anything about "Capitalism" or "Child-killer", I would've agreed completely with you, however, this is no more than an innocent joke that someone speak up with their mind without mean of harming anyone or their honor. Go act right, please, as on behalf of the people in the military, even though I'm not in any sort part of their closed-community, I've learned about them enough that you're making civilians having second-doubt about veterans and active duties everywhere that they're in a complete different level than them and not just people. I've talked with many vets, and all of them are complete normal person that would not take offense to even bigger and meaner jokes like this, let alone this one.
