Having confidence doesn't hurt. But tennis is all about MATCH-UP. Wawrinka is the cleanest ball hitter on tour. His forehand and backhand swings are as a simple as they come. At his peak, making no errors, he is basically a baseline sledgehammer. Lock and loaded the moment he sees the ball come. Watch his swings. There is no wrist movement until after he's hit the ball. Guess what happens if you give Wawrinka a ball machine. He eats it up. And a ball-machine is basically who Novak is. Novak is probably the greatest to play tennis because he has the consistency of a machine. His balls land consistently on the baseline pushing everyone back. Doesn't matter for Stan. He feeds off Novak's machine-like consistency and he'll just make up the difference with more power. Novak's crosscourt backhand and forehand are the stuff of nightmares for tennis players. When he changes direction going down the line, he throws almost everyone off. Doesn't matter for Stan. He can out-angle Novak's bread and butter cross court shots, and he doesn't have to run around his backhand like Fed or Rafa. He can just slam the backhand anywhere on the court and win the point. Watch the FO final between Novak and Stan. It's the stuff of dreams for any tennis fan. Now, throw Fed's variation vs Wawrinka and you end up with a 20-3 H2H between the two in Fed's favor.

Djokovic is predictable in the way he plays and does give you time on the ball. He doesn't have any awkward shots (like Medvedev) and he doesn't rush you like Federer. It all sits very nicely for Wawrinka and he starts to see the ball very big.

They’re saying that they always hope, at hardcourt majors, that Stan is in Novak’s half because then it’s much more likely that Rafa won’t have to face Novak in the Final. And this makes perfect sense for a Nadal fan, as Rafa hasn’t beaten Novak at a major in 5 years, and hasn’t beaten him on harcourt in 6 years. If there is one guy who Rafa should never want to face off of clay, it’s Djokovic. And Stan is the most likely guy to prevent that from happening. There obviously has been 1 exception- 2013. That was the 1 time that Rafa managed to beat a prime Djoko at a Major outside of Roland Garros. For whatever reason, Rafa has never been able to find that form against Novak on hard or grass since then.

I think that's also maybe the way Novak hit his back hand slightly flat and stay lower which seem to set up Warwrinka's back hand perfectly. Also Stan is not one trick pony he have weapons serves can be big and crushing forehand too. You can't beat the GOAT with one trick. Look what happened to Berittini in Wimbledon's final. @@luizjunior7785 i shouldn't say fuck off to someone i don't know while you're the first saying someone is a big joke then you don't even know him ? You are just hating someone just because he's injured. Djokovic isn't the first player that is injured in a match and that retire for this reason. Was he faking injury against Kashanov in Bercy Final ? Did he fake an injury against Federer at RG 2011 or against Cechinatto at RG 2018 ? No, he didn't, you're just focusing here on one match among many matches in his career. And you're talking about my mom ? See how tarded you are ? Just someone with trash hate to divide the toughts on some players then thr only thing you have to do is admire them or shut your mouth if you can't stand them. Was Nadal being Nadal in AO 2014 against Stan ? When Nadal is loosing, many of his fans say he was injured etc to justify the loss. Even if it's true or not, can't you give any credit to the guy for everything he has accomplished ? And i do believe he was probably injured in AO 2014 during the middle of the 2nd sets cuz i don''t think he's the kind of guy that will give up a match especially a Final of GS, maybe the players tend to act a bit dramatically to show they're truly injujred than it appears but it doesn't mean they're not injured. Just congrats Stan for this victory cuz he played well the two sets and that's all.

Nadal is 18-3 vs Wawrinka, two out of the three Wawrinka wins came in the worst season for Nadal in 2015 and one came at final of the Australian Open 2014 where Nadal was clearly playing with an injury averaging 80 mile per hour serves and not running down anything from the second set until the end.
