The refs response to her opponent sitting is really egregious. Coco is exacyly right, if you can't manage a long game that's on your fitness. The ref was giving her an unfair advantage allowing that. That alone would have had me heated.

I don’t think the umpire was “terrible”… that’s an exaggeration. That said, I think in trying to cater to Laura’s slow pace, the timing issue became more and more unfair to Coco especially when it came time for Coco to serve and Laura literally had her back to her.

I think they mean so many her age are quite far from this level and even in the tennis world there def are many who can’t handle themselves this well. Many being men. I did see Coco motion for the crowd to not cheer between her serves. Reminder, not everyone in a tennis crowd is aware of tennis decorum. Some just know their opponent just missed a shot and are happy for their favorite player.

I still think the audience on Ashe gets too much in lynch mode, and is not the most knowledgeable crowd. But that's New York. I understand Coco's POV but also think Laura as a 35 year old deserved more respect, yes she was slow but she played a great game.
