I think I have a theory why One Piece character's durability is so weird compare to us (outside of being shonen genre), is their will to not to die or not give up is so strong it activated their *Spoiler Redacted" unknown to them to be able to hit their second wind. Sanji and Mr 2 breakdance fight is so fun and the animation is great! I also appreciate that, comedy aside, they were pretty evenly matched for most of it, it made the end result unpredictable and more realistic compared to some other OP fights.

@@rabela1810 Disagreed about the homophobic bit - some homophobic people absolutely prioritize their homophobia over enjoying well-written characters. I get your point though. The funny thing is, it's really not hard to have well-written LGBTQ+ characters. Both ones who just happen to be LGBTQ+, and ones for whom it's a more prominent feature of their character (like with Bon Clay). Just treat them as any other character! The issue isn't with the inclusion of LGBTQ+ characters, even intentional inclusion. The issue is that most of the big studios don't particularly care about inclusivity and representation, they just want to _seem_ more progressive. I'm not some "anti-woke" asshole either - I absolutely DO think inclusivity and representation matter. It's just often clear that the studios only "care" about it as far as it helps their bottom line. We absolutely do need femme protagonists, queer characters and actors, characters and actors from different ethnic and racial backgrounds...it just doesn't work as well when it's done by cynical corporations. All that said though, I'm sure that some of the outrage over characters from the big studios is also just "anti-woke" histrionics. I just also think that it's obvious that big corporations are shallowly pandering to genuinely important movements of inclusivity and representation.

I've only ever read the manga of the Ussop and Chopper vs team 4 fight, and I'm honestly blown away by how visceral the VA made Ussop's epic speech. Though I feel like the written format made the ensuing trick where they hit each other funnier due to Ms Merry Christmas having a priceless moment of shocked realization when she hears Mr 4 winding up his swing

Man, in a world where, like, 95% of the rulers are the most awful people you could imagine, the good ones like Cobra & Vivi are so amazingly good. Oh boy, we got the Nami/Miss Doublefinger and the Zoro/Mr. 1 fights coming up next. Can't wait to see those; it's cool to finally see Nami fight a one-on-one battle in this, and Zoro's fight here is one of the coolest in the show. What I love about One Piece is that the supporting characters get spotlights of their own in the story. Often in manga the focus is usually on the protagonist, but in One Piece, you get to see the other Strawhats participate in the action. Also, Crocodile has one of the funnest laughs to impersonate.

This Bon Clay v. Sanji matchup reminds me a lot of Inigo V. 'Man in Black' in 'The Princess Bride'. They acknowledge right off the bat that they are both artists (cooking and dance); they have a very similar fighting style, so they can appreciate what the other is doing; and then there's that final: "OK, you can kill me", "Nah, it was an honorable fight, I'd rather not...but I also can't have you running around and following me so..."
