I’ve been at the post office for a month. I can honestly say it’s been a pleasant surprise. EVERY office is different, so just put you head down and do the best you can. For the new CCA’s, don’t feel the pressure to finish everything in 1 day because you might not and there’s always tm. Go at your own pace and come in with a good attitude. The managers can tell right away if you might be an issue lol. More work = more pay so think about when they give you more hours. There will be long days for sure, but we all got this! Best of luck to all!

Be prepared to work a lot of overtime, miss family functions, birthday parties, holdidays. Be ready to argue with your supervisor everyday, and explain why a 2 hour boost takes longer with travel time. Yes, the pay is great the vacation and benefits are great. That is if you can deal with everything else. You said move up. Haha you know once you get in supervision the union and employees turn on you haha.

I got sent to other offices when I first started but I made myself a good caser. @CalUsviFl
@CalUsviFl 3 жыл бұрын
Typically summer time is some of the shortest hours you'll work in the Post office and even getting out earlier than 8 hours. Holiday time is longer normally working 10 to 12 hours a day especially between Thanksgiving and Christmas. There are days throughout the year that workers will call out and you'll have to pick up the slack and work longer hours. As a CCA you'll have to not only pick up most of the overtime hours possibly working more than 8 hours a day but you'll also have to work on Sundays which will only give you 1 day off a week, if you're lucky. Right now I seethat they're usually good at giving CCAs days off but you'll still have to work Sundays and the overtime. Hope this clarified some things.

I’ve been CCA for six months and the longest I’ve worked was 12 hours. Usually when a lot of people on annual leave and they have to force regulars to come in on their day off. On those days, expect 12 hours. That being said, my office never allows me to go passed 60 hours.

Come back to do partial route then comeback and do more partial route. I work 7am to about 6pm. I case my own route. I’m a CCA starting pay $19.33 with COLA. I have medical dental and vision. I had an option to put aside money for retirement but i didn’t. I’ll wait till I’m a regular for TSP. If I make it that far. Gotta get through probation first. @CalUsviFl
@CalUsviFl 4 жыл бұрын
I definitely understand you, you want to do a good job when you first start. The best thing I can say is really pay attention to the address that you're giving the mail to. When I first started I delivered an entire street the wrong mail cause I was just trying to rush. Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. Set your mail and your packages up in a way that is comfortable and works for you, you will be trained how to do it in general but everyone has their own way. Mistakes happen and misdelivering mail is unfortunately going to happen to everyone but learn from it and it will become second nature because unless you know the route and you've done it a bunch of times you can only be so comfortable with it. Carlos, I'm super happy for you man and I think you're going to do fine especially knowing your test scores you got. Just learn as much as you can and don't get flustered. Congratulations again. I have a friend that delivered in Puerto Rico so I'll ask him if there's anything you should know.

I like that Gabriel A. You are correct. I'd say generally speaking you have to take a lunch before 2:30, and yes only 2/10 min breaks a day. I don't specifically know where you're at but it'll be different anywhere you go. My office you don't have to take any of those in the office. What I don't think you got are the "comfort breaks", comfort breaks you can take UNLIMITED. I say unlimited but unless you have diarrhea in which you should be going home it's as many times that you need to use the restroom. If you used your 10 minute breaks your not going to be screwed on using the bathroom because you're out of breaks.

Hi do you get any PTO days as an RCA? Any raises after a amount of time? and last question why is the turn over rate so high?
@CalUsviFl
@CalUsviFl 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you so get PTO days and raises every year until you max out, and to max out usually takes about 12 years. The turnover rate is so great because there's a lot of supervision problems, overworking problems, and just the pressure of what the job requires. Of course it's different for everyone and at every office but I'm general I'd say that's it.

@CalUsviFl
@CalUsviFl 4 жыл бұрын
Very nice, congratulations you are almost there. Your shadow day they'll probably have you case a little bit of the mail as well, everything will be foreign to you but it's all things that just need time to get familiar with. Ok, the calling out part. You're not supposed to call out especially when your brand new because you're on probation and you haven't had enough time to recurve any leave. But once you are established and have been working for at least 3 months you can request leave days as long as you have it saved. What I was trying to say in the video is that if you know that you're going to 100% need the day you're wanting off and the calendar at the office is full for that day, then don't bother requesting it off and just call out. Did that answer your question? Each and every office is different in certain ways because of our union, each office has a thing called a "local" and that's basically the difference between offices. It's a list of rules that only applies to the workers in that specific office. Sometimes leave is talked about in that local but not all the time. I might post a video on that today.

It shouldn’t if you fill out FMLA paper work. Call shared services and select FMLA paper work at the prompt … fill out submit and wait for approval. Then management cannot give you grief because of your ongoing medical care . They have to allow you up to 12 weeks a year with FMLA approval. The paper work is a pain because the doctors do have to fill out their portion and that is always a challenge ( they don’t like to fill out forms ) but other than that … you will be golden if you do the FMLA.

Hello, thanks for sharing information. I recently applied for ARC position, I am not sure if only will be for holiday season, the schedule days are saturday, sundays and holidays. My question,, is this position is only for work weekends without any changes later?
@CalUsviFl
@CalUsviFl 4 жыл бұрын
I believe with the ARC position you'll only work weekends and if you want to change later you'll have to take a test to be able to handle regular mail. From what I hear it's not a bad gig if you're cool with the hours and work. I believe jay h has a video on ARC. Do you know the details of the ARC position and how much you'll make etc? Are you ok with that? The only reason I ask is because it's not a whole lot of hours and just want to make sure you know what you're getting into.

@@CalUsviFl thanks for your response, the only I know about this position is the pay 18.56, required suitable vehicle, schedule weekends and holidays. And yes, I am ok for now with that. Though a bit worry with the score with the assessment 474 was only a 80.00 the other assessments 475, 476, 477 I have a perfect 100. So, don't know if I will be chosen for this position. Asking as well about the shift for this position, no idea if sundays the job is in morning or afternoon.

@@briannaravenell6424 Not bad. I’ve been working 6 days a week at two post offices as the only clerk. It’s an easy job. The hardest part for me is answering the phone because half the time it’s something I can’t help them with. I don’t have anyone looking over my shoulder, and I basically do my job and go home.
