It's amazing how the sport has progressed! These hit factors are blowing my mind.

I only started shooting in 2015, but now I can appreciate how cool it is that I've met and/or shot with some of these legends like Doug Koenig, Rob Leatham, and Todd Jarrett!

That's pretty cool. I wish I could find more of these old vhs treasures. I have a few more non labeled tapes to go through sometime. Maybe I'll find something neat.

It's astounding to see the changes in equipment they are essentially shooting single stack with compensators.

I wish I could. But I don't think there's anymore of these matches on tape. If someone has them on vhs I'll be more than happy to convert them and send back a DVD along with vhs.

Was this before Limited division became a thing? Why is only 1 shooter running a true open gun?

I am not sure. This video seems to be very popular for some reason. but it is a good one.

The divisions were completely different. I don't know for sure if it was just Revolvers parsed out from the rest as the only separate division or not. At that time, an unlimited or Open gun was typically an iron sight single stack 1911 in 38super comp with a 5 to 6 inch barrel with a dust cover that is not full length and a comp on the end of the barrel! The divisions split up Single Stack, Production, Limited, and Open later when optics, comps, double-stack 1911s were clearly dominant over any other configuration.

I believe there was only 1 division at this time, open.

There was no such thing as an Equipment Division in 1990. The Columbia Conference in 1976 originally intended, "No contest must be restricted to any one type of handguns, all must compete together with no special time advantage toward any type." Optics, as used by Jerry Barnhart here, were initially thought to be too slow for action shooting use. When Barnhart proved that false, they became popular enough that USPSA shooters pined for provisions toward "regular" guns. A few years later, Limited Division was created separately from Open.

So cool to see my teacher frank Garcia when he was in his mid 20's. I sure think the stages have changed for the better!!!
