@katakisLives Evil women are always the hottest for some reason. Same in real life. It wasn't only Hoshi's physical appearance in this 'mirror universe' episode that was smoking hot. Hoshi was nervous and timid in the main universe, but in the mirror universe she came alive. She was confident in her own skin. It reminds me a bit of the original series episode where Kirk was split into his good and evil selves. The evil version had most of the traits that define a great leader, plus most of the charisma. The good version was indecisive and weak. I can't imagine our version of Hoshi having the ambition, confidence and drive to become Empress and rule the Universe... but this one!!! Well played, Hoshi...Very well played 😂

My brother went me 20 boxes full of Star Trek books a couple of years ago. He had them in storage in California and when he moved to Hawaii didn't have room for them. He had every Star Trek book up to about 2009 I believe. I can't say for sure, but I bet the mirror universe books are in there. I know I read 3 books that had to do with Bones when he was lost in the Guardian of forever, Spock surrounding that as well as Kirk. I believe it was three books. Can't remember the name of them. There is voyager books as, next gen, DS9, Enterprise and TOS.... Even a klingon dictionary. I've read only a hand full. One when voyager goes back to the Delta Quadrant and my favorite "Federation" , I've read twice. I won't live long enough to read them all unfortunately. Right now they are in my shop, boxed with no place to put them since I moved. Sad :( To miss quote Indiana Jones "They belong in a library!"
@NorthForkFisherman8 жыл бұрын
Russell Mitchem Your paraphrasing is quite reasonable, indeed. there is nothing worse than the loss of creativity and imagination in a world so starved for both. There are days when I think back to Hypatia of Alexandria and what she went through. She knew what had been lost in the final destruction, so I'm sure that the pain of her death was nowhere as horrible as that loss. I however do regret giving all my DLI language training materials to the local branch. They simply recycled it all. - sigh - do a good thing... get kicked in the nuts.

+trence5 agreed. The 4th season where they actually started exploring the early elements of Roddenberry's universe were the best. My favorite was how they explained the physical body alterations of the Klingons from the TNG appearance to the TOS appearance. It was a mistake to try to make Enterprise as independent as possible from Roddenberry's vision with the temporal cold war arc and the Xindi arc.

Norman Lee
@rockabye2748 жыл бұрын
+Norman Lee - I don't think that was the plan. Sure, they wanted stories to make the show unique. I think they were simply saving the tie-ins to TOS and they were cancelled before they could explore more of those connections. However, they couldn't just spill all of those connections to TOS in season one...where would the show go after that?
@normanlee66098 жыл бұрын
rockabye274 By not fleshing out more of the the elements of Roddenberry's universe thru-out the first 3 seasons they lost the interest of many Trekkers, their core audience. And that loss as was reflected in the ratings. And not all the elements need be presented in one season, like the conflict between the Vulcans and Andorians, that sub-plot lasted the entire run of the series. Besides episodes about exploration there should have been more stories about the Tellarites, the Orions and the Romulans leading the way to Earth-Romulan War (which would have been the 5th season). If that was introduced sooner, besides the war itself, it would allow opportunities for Earth to make First Contact with many of the un-named alien species briefly see in ST TOS -"Journey to Babel" perhaps as neutral states or victims caught in the war or as allies against the Romulan Star Empire (just as what happened in the Enterprise episode "United"). The aftermath of the war would have been a better way to introduce the steps towards the Federation instead of the rushed way as presented in the 4th season.
@JerryR17015 жыл бұрын

@jackcherbourg2899 Жыл бұрын
Fourth season was not great. They were going for nostalgia to reel in Star Trek fans, and they knew they were floundering, which is why there were so many 2-parters, so that viewers had to come back the following week in order to see the conclusion. You can see in the final season how they were grasping for straws. Had they gone on for one more season, though, they very well could have redeemed themselves. I do think the series could have gone longer, but its ratings were never great.

Sean Morris Yeah, dat spectacular lens flare look.
@Morrisman199610 жыл бұрын
If the lens flares were a distraction then the lens flares were the only thing you were watching. In the film, the flares were used to enhance the sense of scale of the environments, especially aboard the ship; and I reckon this was done perfectly. The flares also add a sense of realism to the CGI environments. Sometimes they were a bit much, JJ said that himself, but other times I barely even notice them, and by the way, they look hella cool. It's a unique cinematography art style and if people find the flares to be the worst aspect of the film, then it must have been a very good film.
@TrveIrrlicht10 жыл бұрын
Sean Morris Hell no, not the worst, but is JJ doesn't even realize he's fucking up the movie with lens flares, which is so utterly obvious, how should he be able to realize all the other things? Oh well, he apologized for the flares now. A bit late.

There's a great science fiction short story called, "the Road Not Taken" by Harry Turtledove in which alien races discover anti-gravity and FTL travel long before they invent any of the modern things humans take for granted. (apparently, the underlying technology was something humans could have stumbled across at any time in our history). So these races decide to build their empires and they go off on low-tech pirate raids to acquire territory and resources. They stumble across Earth and through their spyglasses figure it will be a rich conquest. ("it must have cost them a fortune to cobblestone all those roads") They land in Central Park and figure they'll frighten us into submission by killing some of the locals with their muskets and powder grenades. They immediately get their asses THRASHED by the Earth counter-attack by machine guns, tanks and missiles. Later on, two of the surviving aliens realize that they've just given the humans FTL technology and what the implications are for the galaxy.

if they were genius then enterprise would have lasted for more then three seasons. most the stories were lame and boring. they needed better writers to being these stories to life. could have done a lot more with the trip, tpol love story, but it was on and off so much that it got stupid like they were two teenagers but she was close to seventy and he was close to forty. they couldnt make up there minds like young teenagers. bet the writers didnt even consider there age.

They cancelled it just as it was getting good. It's a shame.

There was only a couple episodes i had to skip, which was a big improvement over TNG and DS9 in my book. Other then TOS, i enjoyed Enterprise the most of any of the series.

Joe Laton Liked DS9, only saw first episode of Discovery, does it get any better? Have not watched Orville yet

Everything from mid season 2 to 4 were perfectly well written. The Xindi superweapon story line was amazing. So was the beginning of season 4. The show was just starting to get good. Paramount killed it too quickly. It deserved a 5th season.

Not sure if the music used here was the most appropriate of tunes, but this is a great compilation nonetheless. Glad I now have a way to watch clips of the _Defiant_ in all of her TOS-Connie goodness without having to go through the whole episode (not that I thought it was bad, but _Defiant_ was the main reason I watched it.) Also, maybe it's just me, but I kinda get the impression that the Mirror crew was spamming the torpedo launch button in this episode. They're gonna burn through _Defiant's_ supply really quickly firing them off like that.
