Believe it or not, the sharks were very attracted to the empty SPAM cans that the sailors discarded into the water. No one really knows why but the greasy cans actually sent the sharks into frenzies.
@ThatWasHistory6 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Perhaps the sharks associated the smell from the SPAM cans with the sailors in the water?
@gnosticmom28056 жыл бұрын
No one really knows although it's speculated that it was the FAT in the SPAM, not the meat, that triggered the frenzied reaction. Nothing else the sailors discarded caused that kind of reaction.

personally my favorite is the thresher shark or mako shark I like the thresher because of its long massive tall that take up about 2/3 of its body size and i like the mako shark because of the combination of speed and ferocity

There was total radio silence ordered on the journey, and when the ship did not return on time, it took days before anyone even noticed. Some people who were notified did not take it seriously, so that the crew was doomed. There is a very informative book available about this terrible tragedy, sorry I can't recall the title, but "S.S. Indianapolis" should bring up the name if you look for it.

The radio operators in the Philippines had a schedule when each Battleship,Destroyer,Cruiser,and so forth was suppose to be there.So when they didn't show up they thought they would show up so days later.Until the planes(like you said)spotted them.(I can't remember it all if I added something wrong I'm sorry but I got some of this if I remember from AHC.)

The soldiers probably died from the injuries of the shark bites. Becos sharks don't eat human flesh as it doesn't provide them enough fat. But a shark bite can puncture the arteries which probably what killed the soldiers. Different to "Ramree Island Croc attack". Cos crocs do eat humans. Every single piece of it.

I love all sharks it doesn't really matter what kind of shark is my favorite because all sharks are unique white finned, bluetip, thresher, great white, tiger, hammerhead, reef, sand shark, bullshark, whale shark, and the list goes on the way the eat what their favorite foods are every shark acts differently but what most interests me is that they never stop they have to keep swimming to keep air flow and most sharks don't like different temperature change and climate's but the funny thing is that most 95% of the world populations is afraid of sharks because they think that they're monsters and when in reality their not they have to feed too to stay healthy and alive but what a lot of people don't know is that sharks don't really like the taste of human blood most shark attacks are accidental what is a sharks favorite foods sea lions, seals, so when your on a surf board out in the middle of the ocean the only thing in the water is your arms and legs and from underneath to a shark what do you look like.... a seal or if your out scuba diving most people wear a charcoal black swim suit again what do you look like..... a seal I've studied sharks my whole life I've never really seen one in person but I always wanted too I'm 25 years old and my whole life favorite animals was wolves, and deer and my favorite fish was always sharks so I've studied them and I've learned that their are certain times of the year you don't want to be in the water swimming and that's during mating season you don't want to swim where there's sea lions and if you do you want to keep a sharp eye out for sharks and the best way of knowing there's a shark near by is by watching the seals reactions because they can see things that we cannot and you don't want to go out into the water after dark because that's when most sharks feed I know just about everything there is to know about sharks again I have studied them since I was a little boy same goes for wolves and deer I'm from west virging born and raised imma country boy I hunt fish and work for a living I'm going to Florida in August for the first time to try some deep see fishing and I'm really hoping that I get to see a shark I'd be tickled to death if I do lol but thanks for uploading your video on KZbin for us to watch and I hope to see more the names Josh and thank you once again for allowing me to express my feelings about sharks and what I think about them

whenever there is a shark attack e.g. in Florida, they always trot out an environmentalist who assures us for the 5000th time that sharks are very very safe and that sharks do NOT target humans (only by accident). I don't quite believe that and thus incident seems to confirm that. I like the environment. But if it's between me and the sharks, then hunt down the sharks and cul them
@f.friedrichkling-hauss38078 жыл бұрын
+BlackLabelSlushie News flash Mr. Genius, 54 people on average in just the US die from lightening every year while the total number of people killed by shark attack in, for example, 2014, WORLDWIDE was 3, yes THREE. So now that you know you are 18 TIMES MORE LIKELY TO DIE FROM LIGHTNING what are you going to do? Kill all the lightning bolts? Or maybe this is a hoax being perpetrated by environmentalists to make lightning look bad. People like you have succeeded in killing off 90% of the world's sharks. But fear not: Christ stated prior to his crucifixion that when He returns He shall, “Destroy those who laid waste God’s creation.”

Are you so stupid as to believe that God only cares about human beings? Probably. Practitioners of Buddhism will appreciate this statement. It's a common theme among religions, unless YOU are one of the destroyers. 3:55 Not even close... I hate my countries' narrow-minded, self-centered attitudes. I mean, please just do your freaking research. The majority of this video was very good. But then you just up and say that the USS Indianapolis sinking was most likely where the most shark attacks occurred in such a short period of time in world history. Please look up Toyama Maru and/or Junyō Maru, just to name two. These were two Japanese ships, both sunk in shark infested waters in WW2... Both had over 6000 people aboard and only about 10% survived. Yet, for obvious reasons, it doesn't get any publicity, especially in America, because the victors write the history books. MAKES ME SICK... I can guarantee you that at least 400% more shark attacks occurred during the sinking of these Japanese ships than did from the sinking of the USS Indianapolis.

+ualuuanie Your comments are so typically HUMAN. While you and others discuss the virtues of shark fin soup, this wasteful and destructive practice has resulted in the deaths of 90% of all sharks in the world's oceans. Yep, you are destroying the very ecosystem on which we all depend for food, clean water, oxygen, etc. Although Mother Nature bats last, she will have the final word as her immune system kicks in to rid itself of the human cancer
