A brief explanation of Kansas's nerf, and then a game that I think is instructive for tips on how to counter DDs in a BB.

As a cruiser main Kansas still gives me PTSD. Its the one BB you hate to see its turrets rotating in your direction.

6:50 is one of the best examples of Legends teaching I've heard - complex strategy concisely boiled down into plain words. If only everyone had to watch that short clip before jumping into Tier 7+ battleships. Thank you Sir Xarkun for doing your best to educate this playerbase.

So many blue losses come down to failing to deal with red DDs. When we ran in div, we almost invariably ran either DD, cruiser, and BB or double DD and either cruiser or BB. We usually won. The key was always to support your DD and clean up red DDs and cruisers. BBs you simply warded off until you were ready to deal with them. Even in div, it's still 3v15 and blue will still do their utmost to lose.

This is probably the lesson that infuriates me most, i will play a flank with the intent to catch broadsides, the rest of the blueberry team BBs all go to one place, while I'm doing work they're dying very quickly, and before i know it it's me a DD and a few Cruisers left versus 3 BBs multiple cruisers and dds in 7 or 8 v 4. It's painful

It's much harder to hard carry the blue team when they seem hellbent on throwing the match away. It's rare to get blue teammates that cooperate and work together. To me, Kansas is still a beast in the blue or red team.

What I'd like to see from Xarkun, if he so desires, is a video focused on the Lepanto since it's nerf...and see, from his perspective, if Wargaming took the Lepanto out of the Lepanto or...is it still a force to be reckoned with out there.

I think this game is just about who can throw a game the fastest. I love this very simple and clear explanation of all the strategies and especially the playing other classes to get better at a different approach. I find thay if i play destroyer, if i see something a red battleship does that makes me frustrated, then i adapt that into my battleship playstyle

It’s depressing to see the amount of effort cc’s put into their videos to try and help improve the average player, just to see games ending in 5 minutes because one team cannot think and breathe at the same time.

I’m considering taking a break from the game because the player situation has gotten really bad recently. A lot of matches have felt hopeless lately. It’s astonishing how the player-base for a strategy game can be so clueless.

There are so many vids on being a better player from CCs and not CCs. Its called laziness by the casual player if they want to get better. It is what it is.

I'm sorry....I was reading this and realized I was turning blue and that's when I realized I breathe or read but never at the same time. I can't even breathe and drive at the same time. On a serious note you're right. I think that's what drove Tbull rather batty in his final year as a player...the teaching, advising, demonstrating, etc led to virtually zero mass improvement in any measure able way, which no doubt got to him a bit. Xarkun however, is a rare bird of a man...he has the patience of a Vulcan.

⁠@@PxNxWxGxW I'm not sure if it's laziness with the casual player. Though I can see why you would say that which means it not out of the question, but lazy implies one should feel obligated to perform at an acceptable level but chooses not to. Therein lies the debate because I'm not certain if it's that black and white because I see more layers. One has to give a damn, voluntarily speaking, to improve their gameplay, right? If they don't, then why bother? What is the motivation and/or reward? I think the environment of this game as a highly criticized cash-grab theme that, thanks to Wargaming, has hurt the image and perception of their product, and that image & perception can cause cynicism which as you know, is never a motivator. More games are doing that and more players are getting more and more cynical about online gaming...it's a loud complaint that's getting louder. It's not the only reason for poor gameplay but it's definitely more than culpable. The other issue is the quality of the product...which has faced enormous criticism for valid reasons. That's a moral killer. The rest....distracted people who see it as a casual affair not worthy of their devotion to detail in a team oriented game. You have to like this game or love it enough to want to play better. I've always seen this as a niche kind of game as well because it's tied heavily in history and a lot of people do find the subject boring as hell because it's a navel game. It has only one theatre in which to play. The people I know who play well happen to be history buffs like myself. I'm not saying one has to be a history buff, or nerd because I know several players who aren't, but I know many that are and none of them are lousy players, and I think the connection to that is a motivator. They see ships in here from Arizona, Missouri, Bismarck, Hood, and Yamato and it means something to them, in playing those ships out there. Everything else from actual to paper ships is a bonus to explore and learn and master. I'm one of those book nerds whose read a bunch of books on WW2 and a few regarding WW1 so to me, it's a bit personal to see these ships alive again so to speak. Niche games, as I think this one is, can often be a passion to people or just a curiosity that's amusing for a short time and then it wears off. If you call out a poor player, what is their common excuse? "It's just a game, bruh..." However I'd be willing to wager that's not how that person feels about every game they play...just this one. That element can be irritating to no end. But that's just me... you brought up a good point which got me to thinking. 😜
