Thank you for the tour that refreshed my memory. Feb, 2022 the wife and I went aboard the USS Midway. What an excellent adventure in history. We were so lucky to be able to take in every aspect of the ship. So many onboard veterans of the Midway that took time to tell me their experiences. I am so grateful for each and every one for their patriotism. I found “Voices of Midway” presented in the Battle of Midway Theater inspirational!

Outstanding job restoring my first home away from home. I was stationed aboard the USS Midway from 1979-1982. I was attached to bomber squadron VA-115, Eagles. It was the best four years of my Naval Career.

Duane Keating-I say the same thing, it was my best tour of duty in my Navy career (1978-1980). We were neighbors in the hangar deck, I was with HC1 Det 2 our shop was next to the big accumulator close to GSE shop.

I was there the same time you were, Jan 80 to Jan 82. I was a jet mechanic in VF-161. I was invited to the Midway 12 years ago from my best friend who was also a mechanic and he retired as a LT Commander after serving 30 yrs and wanted to have his retirement ceremony on his first ship. Brought back a lot of memories. Yeah I remember VA-115

I toured the USS Midway in September of 2014. I went everywhere on the ship except the bridge. The line to see the bridge was something like an hour long wait and I was on a business trip, so I unfortuantely didn't have the time to wait. Still sad about that. But it was an awesome experience. Highly recommend.

@@Giovanni_Adventures I remember when she used to be homeported in Alameda, California and later for many years in Yokosuka, Japan where I spent my two year sea duty assignment. Morale was very high and food was great.. and she also had a great captain to whom the crew loved to much. I would serve on her again if I could.

@@TheJd195555 wow, that's special. I shared your story to my family, they liked it. My father-in-law was in the Navy in 1951 and was on the USS Navasota, that ship was half the size of the USS Midway. His ship was sold for scrap metal in 1995. I'm glad they have the USS Midway for everybody to enjoy.

My son love aircraft carrier & battle ship. How long does it takes to tour in the ship?
@Giovanni_Adventures
@Giovanni_Adventures Жыл бұрын
You can spend hours, they have a gift shop, food court, flight simulators. Movie area and they give tours and they have presentations. You could easily spend 4-5 hours on the USS Midway. I would check out the options on tickets they have a yearly pass for 2. $90. Or just a daily pass, ages 6-12 is $18. And adults $26. But check in advance because prices may change. Your son will like my next Video that I'm working on now, ( hint) A real Battle Ship. Happy New Year, And Thank You for watching.

Really enjoyed your "voyage" through the old girl and thought you might like a look back when she was last fully operational in 1991. This was the end of their journey from Desert Storm to SD via Pearl and Seattle. A lot of what you viewed is shown that will give a greater understanding than just mannikins. Enjoy the sonic boom! kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKKXqH-Vrs94m5I

It's no longer public property. It's owned by a nonprofit with a board of directors, paid staff and volunteers. They depend on the admission fees and generous donations to maintain the ship and all the infrastructure so that it can remain open to the public for tours and events.
