I am a Navy veteran. Originally from Calif now in Florida. Been watching the videos and progress on USS Texas. I was so delighted when this project started and marvel at what a huge undertaking this is. Your video today and the music really stirred me and gives me goose bumps. Thanks to each and everyone involved and to you who makes this wonderful record of this. We have been destroying way to much history lately so very glad this battleship battels on.

This was my dad’s first ship in the Navy. He sailed on her during a summer Annapolis trip during the summer (June)of 1938. They traveled to England and France. While in Le Havre the SS Normandie sailed into port and he had the opportunity to board her for a tour. The USS Wyoming also made that trip.

@@andrewwilks2700 the schedule right now has her going back into the water mid to late February, but she will remain at golf copper shipyard for other work such as deck replacement and replacing the deck guns. The only schedules I’ve seen for her so far, so far is reopening to the public is mid to late 2025 and possibly as long as early in 2026. Those dates depend upon how much money they have to spend on her and how fast the accommodations can be built at Pier 21. So needless to say, she will be at copper for at least one more year

The Navy called this blue "mixture 21" it looks like a light shade of Vivid Blue and that it would be "without exception applied to all horizontal surfaces." Wiring was exempt and it was not required to reach every crevice and corner. The decks were ordered painted just a nonspecific "Dark Blue," even over the teak decking over all ships in the Pacific Theater. I don't think the museum will or should do that last part, but it would be 1945 accurate if they did. It was just a war time thing for camouflage. I made the 1/350 scale model of USS Texas BB35 and did it because orders are orders. It looks better if different shades of Dark Blue are used throughout the deck.
