Pokri Pokri: Recordings --- and I have many-- of the late 50s/early 60s were recorded on spool tape recorders. In many cities like Calcutta (Kolkatta) most of the city had DC so one required a convertor. This also led to distortion. Voltage fluctuation resulted in the scale suddenly changing. Hence quality was compromised all the way. Coming to your question: Of course if the quality is good then it's splendid. However recordings like these are so rare that the quality really does not detract from the sheer pleasure of listening to vintage recordings of greats like Faiyaz Khan, BGAK, AK and other giants of yesteryear
