Welcome to Islam. I’m also a revert to Islam. I was born into a Catholic family. It was the best moment. Deep down l was looking for the truth and found it in Islam. When l performed the 5 daily Salaat l felt like a human being for the first time.

I really enjoyed her speech and I sympathise with reverts everywhere. Quite a number of them don't get enough support from born-Muslims. May Allah give them strength. Ameen.

This is quite a good point about Converts. Many of us who are born into a Muslim family will not know how it feels to go through this process. I also think converts, coming in from the outside, have a different view of Islam as they discover what Islam is and are also seeing the faith, separate from the cultural baggage that those of us may have (as an Asian, or South Asian to people across the pond, I grew up thinking some things were part of Islam which turned out to be cultural, and in some cases actually be against Islam).

For what it's worth; to quote the famous playwright, Sir George Bernard Shaw, "Islam will be the future religion for the very intelligent", comes to mind when I listen to this lady.

Every time I come across a revert that's able to articulate the difficulties and sacrifices of finding Allah and Islam, for that is in itself difficult enough and requires struggle. Then they have to go through the pain and isolation from family, friends and society in general. I am happy for you my sister and hope that one day your family will also accept Islam.

As a born muslim, I always ask myself, whether I would have the courage and strength to endure the trials that reverts face. The more I ponder the more I believe that I do not posess the the strenght of many of the reverts whom I see. They are truly an inspiration to muslims and a blessing to Islam. I, like many born muslim, watch in awe as these reverts serve Islam more in a short period of time more than we have done in our entire life..

I really appreciate you sharing your perspective. It just dawns on me that the perception of self and identity is a big challenge for reverts, and following that, the struggle of overcoming social acceptance / rejection. Now I understand why Islam identifies new reverts as one of the communities that needs support and for us to ease their burden. Thank you.

Such a beautiful and concise speech! Your conversion flashbacks and struggles you've been through made my heart race remembering my own experience of going through very similar situations before and after converting. May Allah bless you for spreading awareness, looking forward for more lectures of yours, dear Grace Song.

There are ppl like her practically begging for it and we are holding on to it like some exclusive club. Like when she saw her hijabi school mate after 10 yr high school reunion. Omg that hit me hard.

It takes a huge sacrifice to convert to Islam. You often lose your family and friends or they just tolerate you. And you enter the Ummah and you're alone again. After the "mashallah phase" born Muslims see you as an ignorant that will never understand true Islam but the truth is they don't accept you or trust you because you were born in a different culture and born Muslims often confuse their cultures with Islam. Moreover my Muslim born husband took a second wife behind my back . I came to know after tow months - and then imposed it to me as his God-given right. I actually feel so alone as a converted Muslim and it's very difficult to remain Muslim.

Technically speaking even Prophet Muhammad S.A.W was the first convert his parents were not born muslim. People need to leave the ego of being born in a Muslim family although a blessing it can really make some think that they are better than converts.
@harunyahyadotorg3 жыл бұрын
The Prophet (saw) was always on fitra. He was always a Muslim, he just made it public. Also the technically correct term is revert not convert.

There is no cost only the illusion of pressure from external forces it's up to you what to make of this raw material.. No event is unfamiliar or bad in itself it can be the best blessing if it makes you better, only a bad thing if it corrupts you.. But you alone are responsible for the course this takes..

they silence because they don't have the knowledge, many muslim from born only have islamic name but they don't learn about thier religion, if they learn they won't be silence after saying congratulation to you, they will do thier best to help you as they can. so for new convert you should judge muslim people not only by thier faith but by thier knowledge about thier faith. i don't want to go about practice, because some muslim may have knowledge but still not practice Islam in thier life. lastly there is born muslim and they hate islam because they feel not free to do many thing, they want to show thier body, they want to drink alcohol and eat pork, they want to have sex freely, they want to follow thier desire and Islam forbid them so they hate Islam, they are maybe ignorance never get to learn about Islam or they have heart disease, wahan (loving world and scare to die).

Islam is for Asian-American community going through racist attacks at the moment. All people are welcome to Islam. To worship your Creator Alone without partners, and doing good deeds for the Afterlife. I don't if this sister is the wife of the preacher in the other videos or not. But male and females not married or related to one another being that close, is not from Islam. And hopefully the books on modesty that you probably have there will become useful.
