Dear brother Shayan, I wanted to thank you for this concise and powerful khutba. I was pleasantly surprised by the length because it's a change from the long intellectual speeches we make in reaction to everything that happens. We react all the time, but sometimes I feel we need something else... I remember you saying in a khutba a few months ago that Sidna Maryam (alayhi salam) had resisted also through silence. In fact, to be more precise, Allâh (subhanahu) is showing us through her that resistance requires contemplation and recollection and a wheighting/balance that is neither passivity nor neutrality. What is the difference between a Muslim who campaigns for justice, and a "lambda" campaigner for justice? Was the Prophet (SAW) just a super-activist? I ask myself these questions. I'd like to understand justice not just from an ethical point of view. The Quran is much more than a book of ethics, even if that is already powerful....
