UT San Jacinto Residence Hall ROOM TOUR

When I was trying to choose a dorm for my freshman year at The University of Texas at Austin, I had a hard time getting an idea of what the rooms looked like! To remedy that for future freshmen I decided to make a walkthrough of my own room at San Jacinto Residence Hall before I move out for the summer!

San Jac is actually the nicest on-campus student housing. For me, it was either this or the Castilian.

@@rizzoli7 - She ended up a Dobie which is a private dorm. She is living at Dobie again this Fall. After touring Dobie we decided not to chance on campus housing as no location is guaranteed and we wanted her very close to her class rooms. Dobie is right next door to Liberal Arts College and McCombs Business School

I am going to be living in San Jac this year and I am trying to figure out how big that hanging storage cube system is that is in the bathroom so that I can buy storage bins for them, any idea what their dimensions are?

Sorry I didn't get to this sooner, you probably know by now! They aren't very deep. Honestly, buying little bins can wait until move in if you are unsure of dimensions! This goes for any storage. Also, ordering certain things ahead of times to be picked up at a nearby Target is helpful to beat the rush of other students moving in. If you know the dimensions now that you've moved in, feel free to share!

Hello! Im an incoming McCombs student and I'm having a tough time. So there are dorms and apartments? What are their differences? For Business, which dorms and apartments are the best? For Freshman year do you think its best if I live single or joined? Thankssss

@Rizzo - I answered you in my other post about where my daughter lived her freshman year. I would say you might want to check out Dobie which is right next door to the business school. It is considered private off campus housing but it is a fantastic location close to the business school. The building is a little older but it is clean and safe. It also sits right on top of a Target which is great for when you need essentials. They offer a dining plan and use the same food vendor as UT for their cafeteria. I think Dobie is considered lower cost for off campus housing due to the buildings age. There are a lot of newer places that are a lot more expensive with fancy amenities but if you are trying to stick to a budget I don't think you can beat Dobie. *full disclosure - my daughter is working at Dobie this year as an RA. As far as single or joined that's your choice. We chose a single for my daughter but that added to the monthly cost. She might live with friends in future years but because she is now working at Dobie she got a much better singles rate so she is doing that again this year.

Yes, bring a curtain rod! The windows have built in blinds, but they don't keep out all the light, so I recommend getting blackout curtains!! Lmk if you have any other questions!

Yes! Some of the windows have a view into the stadium which is pretty cool. You will be able to see what rooms face what when you reserve your dorm!
