After stepping behind her opponent she also hops off her left leg, similar to a ken-ken uchi-mata, in order to knock her over.

0:52 at this point the referee should have called 'mate', according to the rules. Newaza cannot continue when both competitors come up to their feet and are in tachiwaza.
@judojudo3808 Жыл бұрын
Yes they are in tachiwaza at the moment but I don't see reason for "mate" at the moment. Uta at this moment starts transition to newaza and match continues fluently to the newaza.

Great video. Decades and decades of practicing Judo around the world...I have never tapped from elbow pain from Ude Garami, only shoulder pain. I've asked very high dans to properly execute it on me and it was the same feeling that I get from someone in BJJ doing it...but shoulder locks are not allowed in Judo?
@judojudo38082 жыл бұрын
Of course, that's not allowed in judo. In Ude garami technique there is a contraction and pressure on the opponent's elbow and there is not twisting of his shoulder. In this video you can see very well how Abe Uta applying pressure on the opponent's elbow. Her opponent's feels pain in the elbow after finish not in the shoulder. You can see it very well too.
@masterartform2 жыл бұрын
@judo judo I saw her finish Buchard with Ude Gatame, which is a straight armbar. What actually is happening to the elbow in Ude Garami, which causes you to tap? Continued pressure from Ude Gatame causes a dislocation of the elbow. Continued pressure from Ude Garami causes...a shoulder dislocation. Where am I wrong?
@judojudo38082 жыл бұрын
@@masterartform Sorry my mistake I want to say that it was not attack to shoulder it is allowed in judo. But twist in this case is created by lifting opponent's elbow and moving his wrist towards his body, you have to keep his elbow contracted but not twist the shoulder. It is ude garami and I want to say it only.
@KingMob43132 жыл бұрын
It's kinda an open secret on the ude garami attacks the shoulder along with the elbow. I expect them to address this in the rules, kinda like how they addressed the "gi across the chin" on chokes. I'm not happy with it, but here we are.
@masterartform2 жыл бұрын
In fairness, the only people who were adamant about Ude Garami not ever attacking the shoulder were non-competitive or earned their Dan rank through a combination of kata and community service.

I have pain for Amandine Buchard. She tapped before the last turn, the referee should have said ippon earlier.

Why? Referee call ippon immediately after Amandine Buchard tap. There is not reason for ippon earlier.

Not only this, but I also think the whole concept of just calling "ippon" for submissions without an active intervention of the referee is quite dangerous. What if the athlete dont hear it? I think the referee should actively stop the fight first and only then call the ippon.
