He played the rest of the first half with that injury and then had surgery and didn't play thr rest of theme year. Byu played its freshman qb in the second half and tanner Mangum threw a hail Mary to win the game.

As a Ute fan I think that the team and the loudest “fan” voices have had the same problem at the start of the season called overconfidence we were supposed to go into the big 12 as a powerhouse. We had the best qb an awesome offense and defense and I think they had a chip on their shoulder and needed the wake up call. And boy did we get it. I really hope this year shows Utah this is not the old PAC12 and that we need to get back to the old style play.

With a lisfranc injury you can't injure it more and make it worse but it's extremely painful and nearly impossible to do without pain injections etc. In 2015 BYU started their season at Nebraska with a Senior Taysom Hill in incredible shape both running and throwing. He was picking apart Nebraska and on an easy touchdown run where he nearly walked into the endzone he had a freak accident lisfranc injury. He tried to continue to play but eventually decided not to and Tanner Magnum finished the game. Taysom later had another ankle injury and surgery. I feel like it's only in the lore of BYU vs Utah for Utah's best playing QB to only play against BYU.

One year the Sooners were #1, Utah State was ranked 21st, beat Utah, beat BYU 42-14, Oklahoma beat the Aggies 49-0. End of the year Sooners said Utah State was the hardest hitting team they played all year.

Kyle Whittingham is a great defensive coach, but his judgement of quarterbacks and offense has always been suspect. Utah historically just doesn't have great offensive teams very often. On top of that, they clearly have a leadership problem with the AD and administration which may be partially responsible for the PAC12 collapse. The behavior of the University leadership and fans are simply embarrassing this year due to arrogance! The culture at BYU is great which is why they will continue to have long term success.

As a diehard Utah fan, the question is where are the adults in the program? Everyone knows kids in their late teens and early twenties want to play irrespective of their situation. They want to play if they're hurt, they want to paly for their teammates, the fans, for NIL money, etc. But someone on the coaching staff has step up as the adult in the program, and say, you know what, this injury is too severe. You're done. You're not playing anymore because doing so will have a long-term adverse impact on your health. The next guy on the depth chart is now going in. And the coaches obviously had to know he was injured. The fact the athletic trainers were giving him painkillers and put a steel insole in his cleat coupled with the fact they scaled back the offensive plays in the second half because he couldn't perform them on the field. I mean c'mon!

I have held some resentment for some things both Utah fans and administration have done, and I think the attitude they had coming to the Big XII was off-putting. But this rivalry has become way too toxic, and I hope we BYU fans can be better about treating everyone, perhaps especially Utes fans, more graciously despite our grievances.

Lisfranc injury is a year. Taysom Hill at BYU had one, out a year. Other QBs have also had them, out a year. Lisfranc (midfoot) injuries result if bones in the midfoot are broken or ligaments that support the midfoot are torn. The severity of a Lisfranc injury can vary widely - from a simple injury involving one midfoot joint to a complex injury involving many midfoot joints and broken bones.

He made a public statement about BYU will never play Utah again. It's fan base cheered. It fueled a pac 12 bully. They canceled scheduled football games and all sports volleyball track even baseball. That's why I knew this same conference love story would be short lived. Boy was it ever. 5 years ago. I think. BYU beat USC and Oregon in all they beat 5 PAC schools and Utah only 4 yes BYU had a better non conference record than Utah. That too swept under the carpet. Oh we heard PAC 12 was weak. Then I. Big 10 they are watching this child like temper tantrum. Utah just lost any chance to join the big boys. Now they better concentrate on keeping their spot in big 12. In my opinion in the era of football when players stay at one school, and develop, Whit was the king of it. Now, in an era where 50 players come and go every year, that grind your ass off mentality (especially at the speed of the game now) is ineffective. You see all the AD’s at other schools on instagram posting their scientific workouts increasing speed, power and explosion. Then, you see Utah using all of their off season to just condition and grind until their bodies are brittle every day. We might need scalley to take over sooner than later.
