Lions generally hunt from the back or side. They spring and latch on with fangs and claws. The prey is knocked over, the lions don't release their grip on the prey's head or neck. The prey suffocates or suffers a broken neck. You wouldn't generally have advance notice. Depending on the force and how you were bitten, you might not be able to even reach your weapon. I carry too, but weapons are sometimes ineffective. But look on the bright side, unlike a bear, lions wait 'til you're dead to start eating.

@@oneskydog6768 Mountain Lions don't 'euthanize people', Democrats do that, with abortion & end of life euthanasia. Mountain Lions, just hunt & eat. If it's a tough year, like resources, and you go out on a trail alone, expect that nature may take it's course, and prepare accordingly.
