The only change I would make to the lineup for Nebraska is Jackson instead of Mendelson.

I agree. I think coach sided with 'senority' this game, in general, which is really the right thing to do. Alleck and Mendelson over the freshman Jackson. Krause over the sophomore Batenhorst. Truly, it's very much a toss-up in both departments -- Alleck and Krause have clearly been working hard and have elevated their games since last season. But, if you're looking both now AND several years down the road, Jackson is truly a beast/future-beast. Raw size, physicality, athleticism, talent -- not clunky and lumbering like many big tall middles. She moves and jumps so quick and dynamically. Future USA National Team middle starter right there.

I would have had Ally instead of Lindsay, and after the first 1.5 sets, I would have subbed Caroline in for Merritt. Merritt did eventually come around to playing better but her RS attack is not very in sync. Lindsay can't pass/dig, and can't make it in the serve-receive pattern, exposing lanes as Rodi and at times Laney, are forced to take more court to cover. Ally is a better blocker and I have no doubt that against such a shorter block as Utah State was putting up, she would have had no trouble hitting over and off-hands. I think Jackson runs the dog better than Maggie but I thought Maggie was better at closing the block than Jackson. I think I would rather have Maisie as DS for Harper til she gets better at passing. Having Rodi, Laney, and Maisie in the backcourt would be a reminiscence of the days of JWO, Kenzie, and Anni in the back row, and someday when Harper gets better at passing and digging D1 opponents, having her, Rodi, and Laney back there will be like Kenzie, Syd, and Anni.

Nebraska playing easy teams is a big L for them. Just saying. Nebraska playing these unknown teams are such an egotistical move. Once they play a harder team, their excuse is always, "We haven't play teams like this so it'll be a learning experience". Their own bench players are better than teams they are going against. What a conceited team just trying to sell tickets to pack the stadium and not get an upset or be embarrassed. Snooze fest here.
