UTEP obviously isnt good but the way you beat subpar teams does mean something. Elite teams domt beat teams like UTEP, they destroy them. Not sure if this Texas team is elite or not but this game does make a statement. Its been a long time since they had this look about them. The VY and Colt teams would beat teams like this by making them look like it was a wasted trip to even show up, while the teams in recent years would just get the W. Tech will tell a lot. Tech isnt great but if they beat Tech convoncingly I would say that Texas is my favorite for the BigXII over OU this year. If they stay healthy, Texas just has so much talent. They have more NFL talent this year than then entire Last decade combined.

Not getting to play would be the correct phrase. I don't think Texas got enough credit for how well they played LSU last year. A truck load of injuries and some poor coaching was why the season overall wasnt great... but the two games they played healthy with plenty of prep time were against LSU and Utah... and they hung right in with the best team in the country and then beat the brakes off of Utah who was a good team. LSU lost tons of talent so I think Texas would beat them had they played. Texas wasnt quite ready last year, then injuries made it worse but this year they are completely stacked anf their new scheme looks so much better.

for sure, i’m a huge texas fan and Sam Ehlinger (the QB) is very underrated as a passer, he has broken many of texas all time passing records and has only progressed ever year. I think he could be a great NFL QB but very underrated so idk if he’ll be an early round draft pick

The way you win against teams like this matters. Especially in an opener after a weird off season. Previous Texas teams in the last decade would have not looked this good no matter who they played. It was essentially a first round one punch walk off knockout versus a nice 12 round decision. If Texas is gonna be elite again.... we wanna see knockouts not decisions.
