This is a look inside a 2000GPH Bilge pump. This one uses a 12 volt motor with a bearing on each end and the water is kept out with a greased shaft seal. When I took it out of the box the rubber bushing that guides out the cable leads was not seated properly which could have contributed to water getting inside the housing. I have noticed that these pumps tend to fail after several years of intermittent use, and I suspect it's moisture getting in and seizing the bearings that causes the issues. I'm going to add a bit of extra grease to the shaft seal and in future videos I will keep tabs on how many hours I run this thing and then we can have a look inside a year down the road and see how it all looks.
Thanks for watching!

In Utmost Outdoors' wild domain, A bilge pump's secrets he'd explain. With bearings, seals, and cables slight, He delved into its inner plight. But alas! The rubber guide askew, Could moisture be the sneaky brew? For years of use, they tend to fail, As water sneaks in, a fishy tale! With grease in hand, our hero vows, To save the pump from watery rows. "I'll monitor its hours, you see, And film its fate for all to see!" So here's to Utmost, brave and true, In KZbin's realm, he'll see it through. Through pump and seal, he'll take a dive, And keep us laughing, long alive!

LOL he is so afraid of meeting the native spiders in Australia that he has now decided to stay indoors and has instead started converting appliances and turning them into bilge pumps. That "bilge pump" motor looked a lot like a vacuum cleaner motor to me.

I like how both these pumps are able to be dismantled with basic tools and re-assembled. Especially the larger pump as the motor is also able to be repaired. The smaller pump motor is a little tricky. Could you post the writing on the smaller pump so I can Google and find out a little more about its specifications please ?

If you make a turbo compressor wheel design that would be EPIC! or just what ever works better is amazing tbh. I suspect you can't go to big as the motor will draw more amps. maximizing something in the housing that's standard will probably be very efficient. You are seriously one of my favorite gold youtuber just building and designing and upgrading things to make them better is my favorite hobby. I love fishing and gold prospecting but i also have a 3d printer. I live in near Melbourne if you ever come to the golden triangle i would love to meet up one day.

I’m looking forward to see you do a few local prospecting videos, NSW lacks in this compared to our Victorian neighbours.

I think a good first step would be to make a new impeller , same as the original , but with 5 vanes

I got this one off Amazon. Brand was "Nuzamas" which I think just sell a random variety of surplus stuff. I'll compare it to a Seaflo brand next video.

At least they are pretty cheap to replace... but it would really suck if it failed on you out on your weekend trip.
