Hey there, I am trying to regulate my bilge pump with a regulator similar (I guess/guessed) to the "Motor Governor" that you have but when I connected it to my 12v lifepo4 it made a faint wistling sound and started to smoke haha, after that my lifepo4 seemed to be dead and when I after a while got it to charge it jumped between 13 and 14,4V. I know absolutely nothing about electrics and how it works but I think it could have been the regulator I bought cheap from amazon "RUIZHI DC Motor Speed Controller 6-60V 12V 24V 36V 48V 30A PWM" so I am thinking of buying the exact one you have...unless you might think it also won't work with my setup! I have a Eco-worthy 12v8ah lifepo4 and a 12V 3A bilge pump. Would very much appreciate your input (pun intended)

The subsurface gold recovery is going to be really interesting. Regardless of how you end up doing it, I'm pretty sure you're going to have to slap a pretty fine screen on your suction nozzle. Have you seen the guy(s) who made an underflow sluice? That could be something to look in to :)

Have you considered hooking up a solar system to get more battery life out of it? Panels can be found for less than a dollar per watt if you do some looking around, and charge controllers can be found for under $20. With all the sun you guys get you could probably keep it running all day.

I think a solar charging setup with two swapable LiFePo4 batteries would be great! could charge one while using the other. Maybe build a box to fit the battery size you go with. at ~185 watts, it would take 15AH to run for 1 hour... so a 30AH 12.8V lithium battery would be 2 hours runtime, while the other charges... So many possibilities!

hey Kyle. I've been thinking about your subsurface sluice. Yes there will be backpressure from the discharge, and this may help slow discharge down to a chatchable speed. Your forward velocity is still going to exceed your downward pull of gravity, the key to gold catchng, so instead of having riffles like ramps to catch gold, maybe you could have them like ramps on the top of the sluice to drive the water down into the mat? roof ramps..lol. flood gold will be a problem as its hard to catch those surfers, but i think you can figure it out, and when you do, you will have reinvented the wheel! cheers, Prairie🤠

I don't know if I just missed it but, have you ever looked at an infinity suction nozzle design? BTW I like your brain
@UtmostOutdoors
@UtmostOutdoors Күн бұрын
Hey Mike, I did experiment with an infinity jet in one of the last few videos. A full ring jet does seem to prime the fastest, as it feels like it's almost even sucking air when out of the water, but the overall efficiency did not beat a single jet. I was personally surprised to see a single jet, twin jet, tripple jet, and infinity jet all perform so close. I think it's all about sizing the jet cross section to match the pump, and from there the suction is similar. but more small jets does mix in a shorter tube than one large jet, so that helps place the jet closer to the sluice box for packaging... Hope that makes sense. Another thing to consider, is that the wall friction at the jet actually goes up as you move towards a ring jet. Just the math of how much surface is in contact with the high velocity water exiting the jet. So a ring jet actually may experience higher skin friction losses compared to a single circle. It's been a fascinating learning process!

Very nice setup. I'm going to dispose of the mercury I have at transfer station but I didn't want to lose the gold I have in it. I can do this after I've squeezed out the amalgam then dispose of the mercury. Thanks. The only thing I noticed was you say no tools required, it looks like you cut or had the end of the 24" pipe cut to lay flat in the water bottle? Did you do that or will Home Depot do it for you?
@UtmostOutdoors
@UtmostOutdoors 4 күн бұрын
I cut that myself. It's not necessary, just be careful the tip it fully submerged but not by a lot. When the chamber begins to cool it may want to suck up some water and that would not be good if it made it all the way back to the hot part. For one small batch the tube alone provides enough cooling, but for more, you can use a longer tube and wrap a wet rag around the outside. In my test I weighed everything before and after and lost nothing to the atmosphere, but be careful.

You SHOULD have a hard time believing that. I always took the rumors and legends of gold like this with a grain of salt until I started finding them. I guess a few things to put it into perspective, it takes much more than two hours to find a location in the first place, and after the small but concentrated paystreak has been dug out, it's not like we can continue finding gold that good for the rest of the day. It it very cool to see that there IS really profitable ground still out there and so close to home. I've spent many many days out on the river finding nothing...

Hey Kyle, I'm in the "build my own highbanker/buy a pump" phase of my adventure in gold mining/prospecting. What do you think is the ideal pump for a high banker like your Utmost Explorer maybe 1.5X the size? Looking at the BE Power Equipment WP2065HL (Honda Motor) available at Napa. I'd run a ball valve & reducer from 2" to 1.5" , so I can use 1.5" camlocks/ pvc... etc. Would u be so kind to comment & give me feedback (I'll browse thru my history & re-watch some of the videos I've already seen of yours.. I recall u using a Honda WX15 .. ) but I figured I'd try this instead...to streamline the learning curve, since you have more experience now! Cheers mate!

I might have to give you a better answer later, so standby for that... I think every time I've come up with a setup I'm happy with, it has been as a result of visiting the place I'm going to mine and realizing all the fine details I forgot to account for in my planning stages... It's an iterative process sometimes, but one thing I've never regretted is making things light weight. I imagine not needing something so light I can pack it 5km deep into the wilderness, but then in reality even a half km walk from the car to the river gets you wishing you had a lighter setup, and you would be surprised how much material a small electric highbanker is capable of moving in some situations. The reason I started out with the Honda WX15 was due to the sub 20lbs weight compared to those larger pumps... the cost was a big negative there though. Tell me more about where you plan to mine (vaguely here, or email me) Something like the Utmost adventurer is a serious machine that combines a highbankers ability to chew through gravel and be compact, with the 20" wide recovery abilities of a beach box, and I think it is large enough to practically deserve a gas water supply for extended trips, but what I've learned of electric bilge pumps and lithium deep cycle batteries being very affordable these days, it's not out of the question you could even run something like that off battery power if you were close to the water's edge. So a smaller electric setup may be an affordable AND practical way to start out. Something to consider. Again, let me know more about you're plans and I'll give this some more thought.

The amount of magnetite in the beach gold varies from about 30% to a bit greater than 50%. We mine only the black sand and intentionally avoid the blonds. Think of zebra stripes of black and blond sands. Only some of the black sand has gold. I usually only mine when I get 20-40 (or greater) colors per pan (a couple pinches of sand). It is better to try to pan just a couple pinches of sand rather than a shovel full - You'll be panning for an hour to test. It's fun but takes a lot of work. If you find a good spot to work and are there for a week - you may find an ounce. State rules require some prep so study up and get the right paperwork.

You need to get some old timers hanging out I followed him around feed them and spend some money you’re not gonna learn it on your own and nobody’s gonna teach you if you’re gonna put it on KZbin. Cover ground you can always go back gadbar rock hammer stay light. No rubber boots no rubber gloves rubber six to heat out of your body hot water just a pan of boiling water did you caught up on the heat.. Here’s a tip think about it just start doing rock rock out of the ditch keep the running water Nero and walk up and down deep down rock out keep doing rock out the light stuff wash away the gold does it move. Think about it the old-timers did it do you want to concentrate 20 yards into a quarter yard there you go and then you’re down to bedrock

You couldn’t be more wrong with your “with the tunnel yes, without the tunnel, no” comment. You don’t need a tunnel hull with a jet to run in 2” of water. We run in 2-2.5” of water with a flat bottom boat all the time.
@UtmostOutdoors
@UtmostOutdoors 10 күн бұрын
I'm sure I could be MORE wrong... I'm always impressed by how shallow these jet drives run. I guess I meant you can't go so shallow that the hull hits without hitting the intake grate. Since the intake grate hangs down a couple inches bellow the hull. Although it looks like a lot of folks just let the outboard bounce off rocks in the super skinny water areas...
@RockinLOutfitters
@RockinLOutfitters 10 күн бұрын
@@UtmostOutdoors again, you can run 2”-2.5” of water and never touch a thing with a standard flat bottom boat with an outboard jet. Boat setup is 80% of it. Just calling a spade a spade. A lot of mercury is on gold since people used mercury to grab gold. Distilling it off is stupidly simple as shown. The mercury vapor form this small of a still is so little that a passive cooled retort is fine. Save the mercury as its quite htf and valuable. If you want extra credit for your retort you can hewt it very strongly with a graphite insert to make a nuce gold button. Induction heating is the best, propane is the most common and charcoal is cheapest. To evaporate the mercury, red hot is fine. To actually melt the gold its a bright yellow orange heat. ❤
