That conclusion message from that senior person is mind-blowing

This is the best coverage I have ever seen! I like the technical detail and that they interviewed the real workers on the original site. You cant get a better documentary than this!

They forgot to mention the flare tower that should have burned off the gas but couldn't because it was out of action too. Rusty pipe had been removed, but not replaced.

Also there was supposed to be a deluge system to flood the output in case the flare did not work. It was not large enough to reach the output. So if the pipes had been properly maintained, or the gauges properly maintained, or the refrigeration had been left on , or the vent gas scrubber worked , or the flare worked or the deluge system worked Bhopal would be just a random town in India. I can't understand how they got college educated men to work there.

Even I M from bhopal, when you see all circumstances, he not wholesum responsible , plant was running in loss, they fired old employees who knows the work and took new, poor training led them done this mistake and water entered tank that contains gas, yes they should regularly watched that safety systems are in working condition or not, don't know who completely responsible, I guess govt who allowed them to make such plant in center of the city, and dinnt checked what they are keeping and how they are maintaining it.

1: Yes, very much unsafe. 2: If they live nearby, it really doesn't matter. 3: Most likely the biggest source of contaminants is now drinking water. Airborne toxins will be long gone, and touching a pipe for 2 seconds won't make too much difference.

This is a very sad story about corporate greed and negligence for workers safety. Real victims of this tragedy, families of the deceased, not only failed to reach justice in the court of law, but were brutally robbed by crooked lawyers they hired and corrupted justice system. On the other hand executives and their subordinates responsible for catastrophy, walked away with crime and today strut on their multimillion yachts. Also, you have to take into account human error as a factor. Road to hell is paved with good intentions! But no one can abolish above mentioned people from their command responsibility.

Is the plant still usafe? I thought I read somewhere that it was still leaking, and these men are walking around the place touching pipes and wearing no protection :S
@Goodiesfanful7 жыл бұрын
Keeleycide yes, the plant is still poisoning people because nobody's cleaned up the contamination.
@shavindadissanayake93455 жыл бұрын
It is poisoning of a poor nation by the Western capitalism. Still the factory is not cleaned and it shows how this American company is ignoring the issue.
@thenayancat88024 жыл бұрын
There's virtually no MIC left since they emptied the tanks directly after so no, it's not leaking gas. However the plant will still have toxic residue in various places. It's not unsafe to walk around and touch things.
