this game made gen 7 one of my favorites!!! this game revised all the things wrong with sun and moon, you know like how emerald and platinum did to their predecessors. they added more options of pokemon to obtain, they made the trials signficantlly harder (the more noteable ones in my experience: araquanid, togedemaru, mimkyu) and as well as kahuna and hau battles. like i swear, those trainer's pokemon must've had something added to them like ev's or iv's cuz for some reason their moves just did crazy damage. but it made planning for those battles much more fun. another thing about planning for battles, its sooo much easier to prepare for them cuz you can easily collect good tm's if you go out of our way to look for them farm BP with mantine surf and teach pokemon tutor moves, buy useful hold items and what im glad i did was farm points for vitamins. some might argue that all of that just makes the game easier and while at some points it does, when you add a self-imposed challenge to yourself for playing this game, it doesn't make a significant difference as i found out during the important battles.

​@@5ashll303God no! Emerald and platinum were fully enhanced versions of their prior games. They added the bunch of new features like the battle frontier more Pokémon to the Pokémon And generally fixed up a lot of problems that the prior games had with them, such as diamond and pearl's slowness or ruby and sapphire's lack of post-game. Ultra sun moon took a game that needed improving And instead it added on a bunch of tacky features that really didn't change the main game at all. Like surfing mini-games in an ultra wormhole Mini game. Also, they completely messed up Lillie ark in the story and they completely destroyed Lusimne as a character. Unlike platinum, which actually gave Cyrus a personality, unlike his diamond and pearl appearance where there was nothing to him. So yeah usum were pretty disappointing 3rd games And also the fact that they split the third game into two games to make more money Is really just what gets me the most.

This has the same energy as B2W2's ending theme compared to BW's but in reverse. Both signified the end of their respective eras, in vastly different ways. B2W2 was the end of 2D pokemon games, and it's credits music feels like a heartfelt goodbye to those days. This theme, meanwhile, gives off more of a "we'll meet again" vibe, as swsh are obviously pretty similar to sm/usum, so while the 3ds era may be over, it's spirit lives on.

Usum gets so much hate for no reason! Is this how people reacted to yellow, crystal, emerald, and platinum? These are better versions of sun and moon in everything but story! This is my personal favorite tied with oras. I understand a bit of the hate it gets now, but I still feel like it gets too much of it.

Agreed, but the hole left by the original S&M could never be filled by USUM. Still had a great time playing it though. Gameplay wise, USUM is leagues above S&M. But story wise, S&M did better than USUM.

I personally wish they gave the ultra games the sequel treatment instead of just remastering Sun and Moon but I'm glad gen 7 at least got something instead of being left to be forgotten like gen 6 (until Legends Z-A), I think this was a great way to send off the 3DS Era. It sucks that most of the switch games' post game are locked behinds DLC, I think S/V was a pretty solid game but $90 for the whole game is pushing it. They should've just added the dlc in the base game and call it a day.

I enjoyed Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, but I felt like they could've been more. I would've preferred Necrozma's storyline to be completely original, instead of them getting shoehorned into the existing plot. That being said, the new additions/changes that were made to the games are great. And I love the upbeat electronic vibes of the new music tracks. This ending theme definitely gives me strong Black 2/White 2 vibes. My interest in the Pokemon games has declined since about 2017, but USUM do remind me of the great memories I've had with this series and how far I've come as a person over the years.
