UV Resin Q&A. Can you use food colouring? Is it dangerous?

I saw a video using hairspray in resin. The result was beautiful .... it looked like it glowed. Strange but awesome looking , but is it safe? Not sure if they used epoxy or uv resin however. What are your thoughts on this?

How do you get rid of bubbles in deep molds where you cant reach them with a burner? Tnx

Hi Edith, First up, thanks so much for commenting! I really appreciate you taking the time. To your question, in this video my BBQ Lighter was almost out of gas so I had trouble getting the flame down to the bottom of the mould. A new lighter with a stronger flame would make this much easier! Another thing you can do that I didn't mention in the video is to try and remove the bubbles in the cup/bowl before you even pour it into your mould. So after mixing in your pigment or additives leave the resin to settle for 5 minutes or so (make sure its away from a window/uv rays) and burst as many bubbles as you can. As you pour the settled resin into your mould, try to pour it in an even slow stream. Without a lighter, I recommend using a toothpick to get down to the bottom and get the bubbles up to the top. Finally making sure your mould is clean and dry helps immensely with reducing the bubbles sticking to the sides of the mould. I hope that helps, Paula xxx

Just come across your vid and while I enjoyed most of the information you provide, your comments on PPE masks has me tutting VERY loudly - it's a common misconception. A surgical mask is not designed to protect its wearer from unpleasant vapours (the word you were looking for). It's purpose is to provide a layer of protection for the patient from any germs etc or spittal carried on the breath of the surgeon, nurses doctors etc. The vapour from resin will pass straight through a surgical mask. You need a proper respiratory mask like those sold by 3M, preferably full faced. They are relatively cheap and more importantly, keep you safe. Please stop recommending or using surgical masks as protection during vaporous tasks. Apologies for the sermon, but your recommendation could cause someone harm.😢
