I was a cop for 23 years and just retired 7 months ago. I was a swat member and firearms instructor. Numerous active shooter school attended and watching the BULLSHIT INACTION of those cops in this video simply makes me sick to my stomach as well as angers me to no end. What they did, just standing there goes against EVERYTHING taught for these situations AND everything you are supposed to stand for - protecting the innocent, my God especially children. I truly don't know how these responding officers can sleep at night.

I have been mowing the yard before in a tank top, ratty ball shorts and grass stained shoes and gotten paged out for a swat call and responded just like that. It happens sometimes.

Issac Hubs, there was a mom who was out in a field working, heard about, made it to the school jumped the fence Ana’s went to one of her children’s classroom. She got the whole classroom out. She was going back in and police detained her in the back of a squad car until she could calm down. When they let her out she went back in got her other child and another kid out. Guess what she had no weapons. She had GOD as her shield. .

What I don't hear people mention is when the shooter crashed his car at the :28 mark, there were two people (I assume officers) who went to check on him. They discovered his intentions once they got close to the car. They turned and ran back to another building. It was then 2 1/2 minutes before the shooter got in the building. Why did those first two not strategically confront the shooter. They could have kept him outside. Where did those first two "runoff" to and why did they not obstruct his path to the building? This would have never occurred had they at least occupied him near where he crashed.

The first cops that ran in I thought showed some courage. They had no cover and were sitting ducks. Plus running in the classroom and spraying a bunch of bullets by the cops Im sure wasnt going to happen not knowing the status of the kids inside. Im sure they didnt know they were shot. The shooter on the other hand had cover and anyone that came in the door would be the first to get it. Thats my first impression by just watching the video where to first cops on the scene acted.

The US Supreme Court has ruled that cops have no duty to protect the public so while what they did might be morally repugnant I don't see anyone facing charges. And lawsuits will be unsuccessful due to qualified immunity. The Parkland school shooting victims tried that and their lawsuit was dismissed.

Those shots were at the cops right before they ran back, at least one was grazed by a bullet so they retreat to a safe position to gather themselves and a plan. I can't justify the 77 minutes after, that's just insane but that part with them tactically retreating upon being fired upon is fine. Entering a doorway with a shooter inside with a high powered rifle is almost certain death for at least the first one to go in, until they get better equipment for backup.

None of them even went down the hallway where he was. It appeared as if they were waiting on him to come out on his own. To me, it seemed like the shooter held several well-equipped law enforcement agencies hostage out in the hallway while he was in the room. And the guy who felt the need to sanitize his hands during the ordeal was also captured rolling up his sleeves only to roll them back down. In fact, he was going thru his phone while someone finally went in to take the shooter down. The sound of gunfire was so loud, but it took him a few seconds before it registered with him enough to put his phone back in his pocket. Ironically, so much testosterone and no balls.

No one had to die and yet, rather than doing their damn jobs and handling the gunman approaching the school (or even once he was in the school), they ended up cuffing parents and teachers outside for attempting to go in and help because the cops weren't doing anything.
