Unfortunately both communities are guilty of such attacks but as this one demonstrates it is rarely the attacks on Protestants which is highlighted. Republican IRA and Catholic propaganda is astonishingly effective and has portrayed such a flawed and one sided view to the world. I was brought up as a Protestant in East Belfast and am now married to a Catholic from West Belfast. Religion plays no role in our lives whatsoever these days, and I’m speaking purely and honestly from an open minded position. The citizens of Northern Ireland have been manipulated and ravaged for too long by those indoctrinated and hate filled forces of Catholic Irish Republicanism and Protestant Unionism. The sooner more people drop their perceived prejudices, abandon any notion of religion and ignore politics the happier and more fulfilling their lives will become. Love each other.

I was there as a soldier,, it started on the Newtownards road before this,,,, we used to beat them back down Madrid street,,, the gates just moved the trouble,,, I remember a short strand gunman climbed the fence and fired into a crowd of ppl,,, a guy (I won't name) was shot in the foot,,,, the narrator is obviously unaware the army did wat the police wanted to do, the army weren't allowed to go Into the short strand without peelers, it was seen as too aggressive, I remember being told that at. A brief.

That the loyalist way of thinking just like they couldn’t get home when the cops stopped them going up ardoyne road 😂 protest till 8 got in there cars went home came the next morning and moaned about how they couldn’t get home

@@kennymitchell4361 I’m not saying I don’t believe there’s not tit for tat rioting. I’m saying how can Cluan Place be under siege when it’s only exit leads to a friendly loyalist area. There’s a big wall dividing it and the short strand. A lot of the time Cluan Place is used by loyalists to attack the Short Strand.

one point the trouble originally started in may of 2002 from the newtonards road after a jubilee party this was a catatlyst the fella recording must have forgot all them months before hand covenient that thats why psni are in cluan place after they watched you bring in blast bombs and so on and throw them into short strand

So it's justified? That's way over the other side of the strand! I was a ten Yr old kid playing skipping in fact at the bottom of the street when a grown ass man jumps up on the wall and shouts at 3 of us I was the oldest. You dirty orange huns then starts throwing bottles and rocks at us there was no one else out on the street at the time! My house was the one that was burnt down. I haven't forgotten how it all started for cluan place definitely not!

It takes a long time to dawn on people that there are better things to do in life than antagonising and getting at your neighbours and it takes two to make a neighbour. Like making a good meal or chatting up girls or writing a book or singing a song or sitting at your desk doing something you like 😏. Of course if you allow things to get really bad you get into the Gaza/Isreali or the Russian/Ukraine situation and you have to start sifting through the rubble for inspiration.

So the loyalist aren't happy when the PSNI stand by and do little, yet they were fine with the RUC was doing the same thing years ago. Both sides still making the same mistakes and expecting a different outcome. Insanity at it's best.

August 28, 29 and 30th were particularly violent,, however no mention of it in this video,,, we entered thou clandeboye arch and engaged the republicans, this went on for several nights where we sustained dozens of casualties, again not mentioned here,,,, I remember being in casualty and seeing soldiers and police injured, and also short strand residents that were injured all in the same waiting room,,,

At 9ne point there was an iso container in clan place,,, when they removed it, there was over 30 pipe bombs behind it that had been thrown from the short strand,, cluan place and palette Ave, we're terrorised for no reason other than the religion of the residents

The jist of this video is one sided,, yes it was violent yes the families in cluan place and other streets suffered, however the loyalists were being controlled by faceless nameless men, directing the actions of the loyalist crowds,,, imo it could have been fixed a lot sooner with less casualties
