UVF murder 3 catholics in the Avenue bar in belfast, May 1988

On 15 May 1988, the Ulster Volunteer Force launched a gun attack on the Avenue Bar on Union Street in the city centre of Belfast, Northern Ireland, killing three Catholic civilians and wounding six others. The bar was close to the Unity Flats complex and as a result was frequented mostly by Catholics

Hopefully, when all the hatred subsides. There is a sort of democracy there now 50/50 nationalists and unionists so if both communities respect this then democracy will prevail.

Killing people at home, work, rest or worship is crazy. It's not at all normal compared to a war situation with uniformed combatants and an area of battle. Its so jarring for all those who lived through it and one of the reason is there was no safe place, even your own bed or place of worship you could be blown up and shot. Anyway it's 2023
