Rap is dying because people who have decent rap skill hop on generic beats and say boring generic rapper stuff. While people who can’t rap AT ALL hop on these crazy larger than life beats that they are not skilled enough to handle then they pretty much just adlib over it so the beat carries. The surfers are chilling on the beach while there kids are drowning in the waves. It’s simple

Honestly I compare music to like a meal. Not every meal u have is gonna blow ur mind like “wow most delicious thing ever”, sometimes, a sandwich is just a sandwich, meant to be consumed, n that’s that. That’s what Nav is to me, a turkey sandwich. I like turkey sandwiches, but I never eat them expecting something spectacular.
@timmy587611 ай бұрын
there’s new rappers with new sounds it’s just u can’t have a new sound and instantly blow up, u need to follow the trends to blow up initially then when ur atleast semi established u can do ur own thing like look at yeat making similar music to carti after WLR he then blew up and tweaked his sounds a little to be different. If u make a new sound when ur not big enough people will hear it and turn it off cus it’s not what they wanna hear cus people are sheep and if it’s not popular they don’t wanna be seen as weird, the only way they’ll blow up is if a big rapper or label finds them and puts them on, but in most scenarios if a big rapper hears a new sound they think will bang they’ll just copy it and do it themselves
@wneup11 ай бұрын
@@knownunknown8450it's not necessarily 'fundign trends'; it's more finding a balance between making your music palatable to the masses, and adding your own twist to your work. then, like OP said, once you start gaining traction, you have more leniency to experiment more. ofc, if you're set on not wanting to be a rapper, I can't change your mind; do what you feel is right. bless 🙏

Agreed on Jack Harlow. I listened to Come Home The Kids Miss You and there is just... absolutely nothing worth hearing. Boring beats, generic copy-and-paste bars, boring delivery. It lacks any sense of personality. It's the type of album that would only sound good if you were someone who had never listened to any other hip hop and thus had nothing to compare it to.
