I’m concussed so avoid video, happy to say I’ve watched serge and wheeler play so much canlander I followed along with the entire episode without video… descriptive commentary + the slow hum of grunts, tongue clicks, card flicks, har-umphs, and laughs tells me all I need to know about the match

This is fascinating to watch. I wonder if, since these are meant as pretty much "exhibition matches", taking it to a best of 5 instead of 3 would be a thing to do just by default (or at least removing treating it as a standard best-of-3 match). The goal isn't to see who wins, but to show off the decks.
@WeatheredPeach2 жыл бұрын
Really enjoying the discussions that happen when you share information mid-game that you wouldn't do in a more "serious" setting, super interesting to get that kind of insight into your thought processes! :)

I remember Alex on I believe a North 100 was the first person to put in plain English how tempo and midrange feel to play, like you’re dying right up until your opponent is actually dead. Aggro either I can sprint you down or I can’t and if you start to stabilize either I have the reach or I don’t, all of which is usually pretty clear to the aggro player. On control once I get out in front of it, maybe one or two 2-for-1s provided I’m not on death’s door I’m pretty much in the clear. Baring a colossal fuck on my part or a major outplay by my opponent it’s just a mopping up exercise. For midrange though, my margins are so slim on both sides It’s a major struggle to ever get clear and take over the game or impose my plan on my opponent. Having potential game against everyone opens the door for everyone to have game against me right up till the end.

Loved this episode and I'm super hyped for the series! Will probably be watching each episode multiple time. My one recommendation would be to align the dagger (knife/sword thing) in the N100 logo with the split in the cameras during the in-between games overlay. I'm by no means a graphic design expert though so I defer to the magicians at LRR but seems like it would work.

Love this being a series! Reminds me of the grand ol' days of the seasonal Highlander tournaments that were on FNPF, but I love that in this format there's much more focus on clarity and engaging highlander play because there isn't the rush of being live during a late time slot, and of course it keeps FNPF slots open, when Highlander isn't everyone's cup of tea and dedicating at least one week/month to those tournaments could be a lot for those who wanted to see more different kinds of magic played.

To answer Serge's question at the end, I would love to see a match-up between two blue midrange decks like jeskai and bug and the two of you going through the benefits of the other colors in that match-up and against the meta at large. Also some insights on how blue midrange is changing relative to back in the lightning angel era would be sweet.

SOOOOOOOOOOOO thankful to get more CHL action. I miss Jeremy putting in games, too, as we have even less content. Every time LRR does CHL, I always get sad when they hit the last game and call time. Very nice, thanks for the game. One minor thing that for me came across wrong, the revellark could not bring back the Kitchen Finks, not because the Revellark was exiled, but because the Finks has 3 power. In that moment and during the discussion in the context of that interaction they highlight the importance of Exile spells, but the revellark has a leave play clause, so it does trigger but can't return anything.

As always the canlander content is super fun to watch! The only criticism I have is that the benefits of the content being produced for youtube rather than twitch could be leveraged more, as this almost feels like a VOD of one of the canlander streams. If there are multiple relevant cards being discussed, you can show multiple cards at once. If an ability is being activated, you can bring up that card image for a shorter period of time than would be ideal in a stream because viewers can pause the video if they don't know what the card does, and if they don't need to read it, the video can continue at its normal pace. Like I said, it was great to watch, but just a few extra things like this can help you make the most of this content format
