Opened in 1861, the Bristol Lunatic Asylum was the last County Asylum to be built in the South West region, following the reforms set out in the 1845 Lunacy Act. In a national context, it was a centre for pioneering medical research and in the development of the treatment of mental health patients. Many students has told tales of hauntings at this campus!

In the future this video will be very helpful for showing former students what their campus used to look like. Glenside facilities will now be moved to EP1 and EP2 next to the frenchay Carpark. Thanks for documenting this👍

Sadly this campus will be closed in 2026 as the land is being sold to have a housing estate built.

There will be a new modern campus built on Frenchay. It will be completed before they close Glenside. We posted a video of Frenchay campus if you wanna check it out 😊
