I like Hoa / Don and jakobs videos more than the other folks at NN group for some reason these trio are more compelling in there presentation than others. ( i dont think the reason can be experience)

Nice, but not the reality in Level 1 or 2 on the Corporate UX maturity scale. Managers hire you to “get the thing done” and in most cases “done” means “finished, we never touch it again” incremental change? “Yeah the first design that new UX dude/gal made was flawed, so we have to start all over again” In many cases a senior dev has more cred or kudos with upper management than a new UX role (we trust people we work with over periods of time more regardless of the outcome, forgot what this bias was called). So this “you don’t have to be perfect the first time” is rather questionable advice depending on the maturity of your work environment.

"Don't aim for perfection" -- I'm sorry, I just can't allow myself to ship a product that'll anchor the first impressions of the user base in a non-idealistic way. I'd rather aim for perfection than ship something that might damage the mental model of the user base in the long run, especially if it's a product for a saturated market that needs extra attention to detail to separate itself out from the rest. Or maybe this is just me being in denial and my inner perfectionism speaking :(

not just you mate, that's one of the reasons NNgroup made this video.

No product is ever perfect after launch. Wealth Simple (in Canada) has gone through 3 or 4 iterations of their website. When they first launched (in a very crowded market) their product was "okay", but now it's the gold standard that everyone else tries to achieve. If you strive for perfection, it's a long journey.

@@suep4068 Thanks for chiming in with your 2 cents, I appreciate it :) You're right, I should learn to just accept that perfection cannot be achieved. But I just can't allow myself to put out something that I personally _know_ I can do better on, and that kills me. If I'm satisfied with what I've made, only then am I able to push it to the world :)
