A marching band leads the carnival parade down Uxbridge High Street, followed by a motorised fire engine with uniformed firemen on top and a man dressed as a baby pushed in a pram. Horse-drawn floats are succeeded by motor vehicles advertising local firms. After the parade, some shops are filmed, with the owners or staff standing outside: Gumbrell & Son, Chequers Commercial, Blackwell Bros., Carrick & Coles, Percy C. How, J.S. Davy & Son, The Little Gem, and William A. Coad. Look out for the policeman at the corner of Carrick & Coles looking at the camera. This gem is among the moving image collection of Hillingdon Local Studies, Archives and Museum. (The full catalogue record for LSA/1574 can be found at www.londonsscreenarchives.org...)
